Chapter Four:
I walk up the stairs into my room. I shut the door behind me with my foot and walk up to my bed to see what my mother has picked out for me.
On my bed is a short, knee-length, black dress. Next to it is a silver belt- which goes along with the dress- and a pair of sparkly sliver flats.
I sigh and change into the dress. I look at my mirror and notice there's a note taped on it. It says:
Beatrice, curl your hair and don't over do on the make-up! Love, Mom.
I crumble up the note and throw it out my open window. Why is my mom freaking over this dinner? It's just our neighbors. Gosh.
I decide to obey her and I curl my hair. I then put on a little mascara and clear lipgloss. There, finally finished. I glance at the clock and it's already 5:50. Didn't mom say they were coming at 6:00?
As I'm walking downstairs I think I realize why my mom wants us to look really nice for this dinner. The house that my new neighbors are moving into is really big, so they must have a lot of money.
I walk into the kitchen and see my mom set down a dish of green beans. The table is set very nicely, with candles and moms fine china.
"Beatrice!" My mom exclaims walking up to me, "you look very nice."
I smile, "thanks mum, you do as well."
She smiles and the door bell rings. Caleb comes running down the stairs, slows down at the bottom, and is now standing next to me. He's wearing a plaid blue and white shirt with dress pants. I roll my eyes, what a dork.
My mom opens the door and let's our guests inside.
First walks in an older man with blue eyes. He must be the dad. My mom shakes hands with him. Then, a boy follows the dad inside. The boy looks about my age and has ocean blue eyes.
