"Bye, Tobias!" I call behind me as I walk down the sidewalk back home. He blows me a kiss before he walks inside his house.
My parents said they were going to be working this morning, so I should have no trouble walking home without them asking how I walked all the way home from Christina's. I mean, Christina lives 15 miles away. I don't mind walking, but that's a little extreme for me.
"I'm home!" I yell once I opened the front door. Caleb should be home at least.
I walk around the corner into the kitchen and I see him on the barstool by the island reading a book.
"Hey," I say, taking a seat next to him.
"How was the party?" He asks, not looking up from his book. My eyes widen. How did he know about the party?
"How..." I start to say, but my mind is racing to fast to finish the sentence.
He glances up from his book and a smile spreads on his face.
"Oh please, we all knew you weren't sleeping over at Christina's to work on a project," he states.
"Then if they knew, why did they let me go?" I ask. This isn't making sense.
He shakes his head. "You are diffidently a blonde, Tris. It was a surprise party. They kept the surprise, duh."
I stare at him for a couple moments, putting the pieces together.
"Ohhh," I say at last. "So mom and dad aren't going to kill me?"
He laughs. "Nah, not today."
I laugh and hit his shoulder.
Brothers.
"So how long did you think you could keep a boyfriend from mom and dad?" He asks suddenly.
I adjust in my chair before responding. "It wasn't like that. I just didn't feel ready, I guess. After everything that's happened, it didn't feel right to bring it up like, 'Oh, mom, dad, I have a boyfriend and his dad abuses him.'"
He just nods. "I still think he's an ass."
I roll my eyes. Good to know.
"Well, I'm going upstairs to take a shower." I say, as I head out of the kitchen to upstairs.
"Okay. Oh! Mom and dad aren't gonna be home until late they said." He yells after me.
"'Kay!" I yell back.
Finally, a relaxing shower to put my mind at ease.
****
I walk out of the upstairs bathroom and walk to my room. I re-adjust the towel around me as I open my bedroom door. I hum along to a tune in my head until I'm caught my surprise when I see someone siting on my bed.
"What the hell are you doing in my room!?" I yell.
Peter gets up and quickly walk up to me, covering my mouth with his hands.
"Shush! If your brother knows I'm here I'll be dead!" He hisses, slowly taking his hand away from my mouth.
"Not my problem!" I snap. "What are you doing in my room?" I narrow my eyes at him, but he just smirks as his eyes drop to my chest.
I look down and realize I'm only wearing a bath towel.
"Pervert," I hiss, crossing my arms over my chest. "What the hell do you want?"
His smirk fades and it's replaced with a serious look.
"I need to talk to you about last night," he says calmly. I feel my shoulders sag, and I let out a sigh. I know where this is going.
"Tris," he says, taking a step closer. "I think I like you, and I know that's terrible- because your dating someone- but I can't help who I love."
I look away from his eyes and uncross my arms.
"Peter, I thought I liked you too." I say. I see a smile start to form on his lips. "But I love Tobias. No one can replace him... I'm sorry to say, but until we die- or break up- he will always be mine, and I will always be his."
His smile fades. At first I think he's sad that I turned him down, but then his eyes flare up with something else. Rage.
"So, what? So what happened last night meant nothing to you?" He demands. "You prefer an emotional douche over me?"
"He's not an emotional douche!" I argue back. "He had a terrible past and you can't blame him. He treats me better than you Peter! I wouldn't pick you anyway."
His rage falters for a moment which appears to be because of hurt. I hurt him.
"Get out, Peter. Before Caleb knows your here." I say, quietly this time.
He nods, the anger slowly draining out of him and replaced with sadness.
"Just please," he says, reaching his hand out to touch my face. "One last kiss?"
I shake my head, but then sigh.
"If I kiss you... you promise to drop this and never speak of it to anyone?" I beg, letting him cup my cheek with his hand.
"I promise," he says sincerely. I slowly nod as he leans in. His lips gently reach mine. By how slowly and passionately he kisses me I can tell he wants this moment to last. Getting lost in his kiss, one kiss turns into several kisses. But after a few moments, we are cut short by someone's voice.
"Tris? I heard you talking-"
I pull away from Peter and stare with wide eyes at the person in my door way.
"Caleb, it's not what it seems-" I try and explain, but Caleb isn't listening.
"It's not what it seems? How isn't it what it seems Tris!" He yells.
"Caleb! Listen to me-" I beg, but again he's not listening.
"I may not favor that Four guy, but cheating on him? You went to far Beatrice. That's low, especially for you." He hisses. Before I can say another word he storms out of my room. I hear his feet stomp down the stairs and the slam of the front door. Oh no.
My eyes burn from the flood of tears that won't stop leaking from my eyes. I screwed up big this time.
I turn around towards my bed, and that's when I realize who screwed me over in the first place.
"You." I point my index finger at Peter. "You son-of-a-bitch!" I scream, running towards him. I swing my arm and it hits his shoulder but he doesn't react. I start pounding on his arms, chest, face, anything just to get my anger out.
"You did this! You-"
"Tris, calm down."
"I'm going to kill you!"
"Tris-"
"I'm going to lose Tobias! I'm going to..."
The thought hits me like a ten ton truck.
I'm going to lose Tobias.
Peter must have realized what I was thinking because he suddenly embraces me in a tight hug.
I try to escape but I'm crying to hard to do so. Giving up, I burry my face into his shoulder and sob.
I never thought it was possible to cry this much, but I guess it is.
Heart break, is not something I like to experience.

Oh no! What do you think about Peter's confession about Tris? How do you think Tobias will react when/if he finds out about Tris and Peter?
