Chapter 15 A Hunch

Rose's P.O.V

Kiba walked me home, holding my hand: "Will have to do this again sometime."

smiling: "Agreed."

As i went to reach for the door handle, Kiba turned me around placing his hands on my lower back: "What, no good night kiss?"

He smirked leaning down to claim my lips. I purposely held back to see what he would do. When he noticed i wasn't moving forward, he pulled me fully against him closing the remaining distance landing his lips against mine.

I moved back after a few moments: "Good night Kiba."

Kiba watched as i went inside before turning to leave himself. Smiling to myself i walked into the living room to find Kakashi spread out on the couch. He looked like he had been there for some time, his headband on the coffe table next to him along with a empty plate and cup.

Picking up a blanket, i walked over and put it over him: "I know you're awake Kakashi," He cracked his one eye open. "But Good night, i'm going to bed and you should as well."

Kiba's P.O.V

I stopped at home to pick up akamaru for a walk. The night air was just right with a light breeze every once and a while. We took our time strolling around the woods, eventually coming out near the main gate. Only to be startled by that freaky, green suit wearing sensei.

Gai: "It is the power of youth that compels you to keep moving at this hour!"

Kakashi was standing next to him, a sweat drop on the side of his head, but he stepped away from Gai and over towards me: "What are you doing out so late?"

: "Just on a walk. The night air is great right now."

Kakashi: "And how did the date go?" His face seemed really dark all of a sudden.

I gulped: "It went really well. I took her to where i showed you, we ate, watched the stars come out and then i walked her home just after dark."

Kakashi: "I will confirm this with Rose when i return."

: "Where are you going?" Akamaru barked, asking the same thing.

Kakashi: "I have a mission with Gai. We should return by tomorrow afternoon."

I nodded: "I'll let Rose know tomorrow."

Kakashi nodded turning back around: "Good."

I watched as they left the village before looking in the direction on Rose's apartment: "Come on boy."

Rose's P.O.V

His voice echoed in my ears: "You will hold still!" I was slapped across my face. "This we'll make you stronger."

Fiercely struggling against the straps that held me to the cold, blood stained table: "No! No! No! Let me go!"

The light bounced off the needle he held close to my neck: "Now, now..." I could feel the needle pierce through my skin, it's contents flowing into my veins.

I shot up in my bed, gasping, throwing the blankets to the side, holding my head the tears began to fall: "Why?...Why do i continue to have these nightmares?"

A knock on the window caused me to spin around and fall out of my bed. Someone tried to help me up, but i flinched away pushing myself against my nightstand until i realized it was kiba.

Putting my hand to my chest: "Kiba, you scared me."

He scratched his head, akamaru whined: "yeah, sorry about that."

: "Why are you here anyway? It's like.." Glancing at the clock. "Almost 2:30 in the morning."

Kiba took akamaru out of his jacket, setting him to the side: "I had a hunch."

: "A hunch?"

Kiba: "Yeah,...Something just seemed..off i guess. So i came over here and right about when i got to your window you bolted up in your bed gasping, your eyes were really wide and you looked really frightened."

I brought my knees up to my chest putting my arms around them, resting my head on them: "Just a bad dream."

Kiba: "Are you sure? That reaction looked like more than just a bad dream." He moved closer to me. "Do you want to talk about any of it?"

: "No i,..Well.." I'm not sure i can keep this to myself any longer. I looked up at kiba.

Kiba: "It's ok, if you need to talk, i'm here to listen."

I sighed, hugging my knees closer: "You know i was taken by orochimaru right? Well.." And we sat there as i told him everything that had happened to me in the past.

Kiba's P.O.V

I sat in shock listening to her story. No wonder she was so easily frightened when she was small. I guess going through it a second time totally messed up how she dealt with stuff, but wow that has to put a lot of stress on her, thinking about this all the time.

She finished her story, ending on a sob she had been holding back: "So, that's why."

Rose held back most of her sobs, wiping away her tears, i scooted over next to her and put my arms around her: "Don't worry, I won't ever let anyone take you back to that place. I'll get really strong and beat up anyone who even tries to take you away."

I could feel her hands grip at the front of my shirt: "Stay here."

: "Huh?"

She leaned back to look up at me: "Stay here tonight. I know Kakashi left on a mission and i don't think i can handle being alone."

A smirk pulled at the corner of my mouth: "Alright."

Rose stood up and picked up akamaru before crawling back under the covers.

Rose's P.O.V

Akamaru trotted down the bed deciding to lay down by my feet. Upon hearing something hit the floor i looked back to where kiba was standing, except he was now shirtless.

the heat on my cheeks almost burned: "Wha..what are you doing?"

Kiba smirked, tilting his head: "What? I sleep better this way."

He stepped over lifting the covers allowing himself to settle in, though he stayed on the oppisite side. Akamaru came back up and settled down, snuggling into my side.

: "Well um, good night."

Kiba: "Good night Rose."
