Percy pov:
I was let out of the hospital around an hour later. It took a lot of begging and the nurses finally broke when I put puppy dog eyes on my face. The broke and let me go. I left fast before they had the time to change their minds.
I didn't head straight home though. I walked through the streets of New York. Down one ally, a group of people were huddled together, beer bottles strewn around them. I could here part of their conversation from where I was standing.
"Weak. Maybe we could--"
"Easy. Should be po--"
I decided I would leave before they jumped me or something. After walking for about 10 minutes, I decided to head home.
-----------------------------------------
As I walked up to the building, I noticed the bright yellow police tape. Smoke billowed into the air as firemen hosed what little flames were left out. The house's roof was completely collapsed and the entire right side was burned to ash.
A police officer that looked so scarily like me I jumped. He had Raven black hair and sea green eyes. The only difference between us was he was older and his eyes were brighter.
"--name son?" he asked. I must have spaced out or something.
"What?" I asked, confused.
"What's your name?" He repeated.
"Uh," I debated if I should just bolt. Police always made me uncomfortable. Gabe had drilled into my head that they were enemies not friends. "Percy," I finally mumbled.
"What?" the officer asked politely.
"Percy," I repeated a bit louder. He nodded.
"Well, Percy. Did you happen to know who lived here?" He gestured to the burned building behind us.
"Me and my step-father." The officer nodded. I realized he never told me his name. "Uh, sir? If you don't mind me asking, what's your name?"
"You can call me Poseidon, everyone does." I nodded. "Well, got to go see if anymore bodies were in the house." I stared at him feeling very confused.
"What do you mean bodies?" I asked. Suddenly a very loud scream pierced the air. I turn around and see what looks to be a burned, crying, screaming walrus. Gabe lived? He was screaming about the pain he was in and how he never did anything to deserve this.
I felt a hand on my shoulder, causing me to flinch away. Officer Poseidon appeared, looking very worried. "You ok?" I didn't know what he meant. The very clear bruises on my face, or the fact that I flinched away from him. Either way, I just nodded.
"Are you 100% sure?" Poseidon questioned.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I responded, with and edge to my voice. I walked to the edge of the lawn and just sat down and buried my head in my hands. What am I going to do?? I thought. I felt someone sit next to me and I assumed it was Poseidon.
"Go away," I snarled.
"That's no way to talk to a lady," some one responded.
I slowly looked up and saw some one around the age of 21 looking forward. She had brown hair and her face seemed to glow in the moonlight. She seemed too young to be a police officer but she was proudly wearing the outfit.
"I know this is going to be tough to get through, and I can't say I know what your feeling, but don't take it out on my uncle. Or anyone else." She then stood up and walked away. She didn't seem to angry when she spoke though. I sighed to myself and laid down on the lawn...waiting.
Waiting for what? I don't know. All I know is it was nice to finally relax.
