Leo POV:
I walked into first period, spotting Percy sitting alone in the back of the class. His head was down on his arms. I couldn't tell if he was listening to music or not. I took a seat next to him.
"If that is you Valdez, I will shove you out of your chair," Percy said, without lifting his head.
"You know, I'm offended," I replied. Without missing a beat, Percy's hand connected with my arm. Before I knew it, I was sitting on the floor.
"I warned you." He lifted his head slightly, looking down at me. I sighed and stood up, brushing myself off. The few people in the classroom were snickering at me. I, being so responsible, made faces back at them.
"How did you even know where I was. Like, the exact spot?"
"I was aiming for your shoulder, I missed." Percy gave a small shrug, before placing his head back down. I pouted. He calls that missing? If he really missed, I never would have fallen to the floor.
"I didn't think you had it in you," I said, teasing him.
"Is it really a good idea to test me?" I shrugged.
"That was just luck." I crossed my arms. I was, again, on the floor. There was a stinging pain, where he had pushed me.
"Oops," Percy laughed slightly.
"What do you mean oops?" I asked, standing up again. I plopped in my seat, a little miffed he actually pushed me, twice! All I got in response was a shrug. I breathed out heavily. "You are impossible."
"Does this mean you will leave me alone now?" he asked.
"Nope."
"Worth a shot," he said. The bell rang and the lesson started. We were working on our essays today. I hated writing. This paper was particularly hard because we were supposed to connect our personal struggles to the text. Though, I didn't have a lot in common with the main characters struggles. Looking over at Percy, he had put in earbuds and was typing away. I sighed.
I ended up staring at the blank document for another 15 minutes, when I decided to text my friends for help. None of them were helpful.
I don't know your life story.
I haven't read the story.
Have you tried to not focus on the surface struggles?
Stop texting me in class.
I groaned to myself and rested my chin on my arms. Looking over at Percy's screen, I could see about a page and a half written. I looked back at my own blinking cursor, wishing anything would come to mind.
"Just...write...something...down," I whispered to myself.
"You could always make something up," I heard Percy say next to me. I looked at him confused. "What? It's not like the teacher could tell you that you're wrong. Just don't make anything to dramatic and boom, easy A."
"Is that what you did?" I saw him hesitate.
"Yeah," he finally said. I couldn't tell if he was lying or not.
"Can I read over your's for ideas?" I asked him. He turned his screen slightly away from me, signaling a 'no'. I nodded, accepting my answer. See, I am maturing.
"Do you struggle with literally anything? Depression? Anxiety? Loneliness?" he asked me. I gave him another weird look. He didn't really expect me to answer that, did he? "If so, write about it. Our protagonist dealt with those, and more. She not only had to deal with mental struggles, but if you read carefully, her mother was emotionally abusive."
"I...never thought about that," I said. "Thanks."
Percy shrugged and turned back to his essay and continued writing. I started writing. By the end of class, I was actually able to come up with a decent outline for my essay. I personally was proud of myself.
"Bye Percy," I said as I left the class, waving. He gave a small wave back before heading to his next class. Walking to my own second period, I ran into Piper.
"Hey, Leo."
"You may only talk to me if you helped me," I said, pointing my nose into the air.
"Let me guess...no one gets to talk to you know?" She poked me. "Very smart."
"Not true." I crossed my arms.
"Oh yeah? Who's gonna talk to you? Your imaginary girlfriend."
"No, Percy." I said. I laughed at her confused look. "We have the same first period. He explained different topics I could write about."
"What do you mean?" Piper asked.
"You know, anxiety, depression. Things like that."
"Ah yes, the happiest of topics." she said, sarcastically.
"To be fair, the essay is on struggles. How can sunshine and happiness be hard to overcome?" We reached Piper's second period. We said our goodbyes. I sighed and walked alone to my own class. I didn't get to see any of my friends till lunch. Meaning, I had to suffer alone.
I was on my phone for most of the class. I was trying to find someone who was willing to text. Most either ignored me or told me to pay attention. Buzzkill. I sighed and decided to scroll through social media, making sure I didn't make any noise.
Three days in a row?! Alright...where is this motivation coming from? And why can't I have it when I need it?
I still haven't decided on a ship yet, but I am leaning towards a couple. Please keep your opinions coming <3 Though remember, if you demand something, I will be less likely to actually do it. Instead, say who you prefer and why! Explanations will help me decide.
POPULAR VOTE DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY WIN!
Ultimately I get final say.
Thank you all for reading <3
EDIT: (It didn't save in the original post. And yes, I am aware that it wasn't that important, but still.)
- I also changed my profile pic to me in cosplay. (My baby Nico of course.) It is also the only picture of me to exist that I actually like.
Sorry for the 2 update notifications.
