*the pic is of Travis*
Spells class went smoothly; we were practicing spells. I had fun helping Winter and Leigh-Ann perfect a few spells. I also practiced my own spell.
My spell was a very powerful one, it creates a halo of fire around me that should only confuse my opponent. Sitting on the ground, crisscrossed with my hands on my knees, I close my eyes and take a deep breath. Breathing out, I mumble the words.
"muddle agus ceo cuir an inchinn i bhfeidhm ar na céadfaí agus déan mearbhall ar an namhaid."
I feel myself floating off the ground, which means it's working. So, I keep mumbling the words, and I feel the air moving around me, heating up. Now for the tricky part, I'm supposed to move my hands in time with my words. I've practiced it a few times and I think I'm ready.
Taking a deep breath, I continue, moving my hands the way I practiced, "scaupfidh mearbhall ar nós an t-imréitigh a chuirfidh an namhaid isteach."
I feel my spell working, and when I finish I feel the air around me swirl faster, then expand to cover the classroom. When I feel the spell dissipate, I'm sitting back down on the ground.
I look around and everyone, including the teacher looked confused. I jumped up, but immediately fell back down; I guess the spell took a lot out of me. Standing back up slowly, I used the desk beside me to stabilize myself.
Once I'm back on my feet, Winter hands me a granola bar. I sit on the desk while I eat it. Everyone else is still confused, the reason Winter and Leigh-Ann aren't is that when I was studying the confusion spell, I found a ward against confusion. So, confusion spells won't work on them. Mine did a little, but it could be because I'm a strong witch.
After I'm done with my granola bar, I feel much better. If I plan on using that spell in the field, I'm gonna have to work on it. My classmates and teacher were still confused.
Winter looks at me, "how long is that spell supposed to last?"
I think, "well, the book said anywhere from half and hour to half a day. I guess it depends on how strong the witch is."
Leigh-Ann smiled, "that means Mrs. Hilton will be confused for half the day."
I shook my head and picked up my spell book, "if that happens, I'll get into big trouble with her. That means an ass chewing from Danny, and I don't want to hear whatever might be said."
I flipped to the page with the confusion spell, "it says here that it can be reversed, but it's a complicated procedure. It requires a potion."
Leigh-Ann pulls out a sheet of paper while Winter asks, "tell us what we need."
I say, "white rose petals, chamomile flowers, spearmint, and peppermint leaves. Don't forget a small cauldron, a jug of distilled water, and a something to stir with."
Leigh-Ann jots the items down, and goes to the storage room with Winter. I clear the desk off, and make a small fire.
Winter and Leigh-Ann come over and set the items on the table. I put the cauldron with the leaves, petals, and water on the small fire. I stir it around a little, making a tea like the instructions said. After a small spell, the scent of the tea was wafting around the spacious room.
I coaxed the fire a little, and the scent of tea was stronger. In no time, the classroom smelled like mint and chamomile with a hint of rose petals.
I noticed that almost everyone seemed less confused, so I opened my book and chant the spell written there.
"An t-intinn agus na céadfaí a shoiléiriú ionas gur féidir linn dul i ngleic lies an namhaid."
When I finish chanting, everyone looks around. When Mrs. Hilton sees the three of us, she storms up to us.
"What is the meaning of this? I did not give you permission to make a potion!"
Raising an eyebrow, I ask, "would you rather be confused for half the day? I was simply fixing a mess. I would've asked for permission, but according to my spell book you would've understood me."
Mrs. Hilton pursed her lips, "fine. You get off free this time. Now clean this up."
I extinguish the fire, and help Winter and Leigh-Ann put what we used back in the supply closet.
I mind-linked Winter and Leigh-Ann, I should've just kept them confused.
Leigh-Ann scolded, if you had, you'd be in bigger trouble than just fixing a potion without permission.
I roll my eye, she deserves it.
Winter chimed in this time, you're being childish.
My eyes widen. Winter the most childish person of our group was saying I'm acting childish. Damn, that's bad.
After we finished putting the supplies up, the bell rang. We gathered our things and left the classroom before everyone else.
I had a headache from all the magic I've used. I really hope we don't have any sparring matches in fighting class; I almost laughed at that thought.
Since I was drained, we just walked to class. Admittedly teleporting didn't take much magic, but it increases my headaches tenfold. It's not fun.
After class started, Coach Jones announced we sparring today. I groaned, great. Just what I needed. Note the sarcasm.
Coach Jones asked, "who wants to go first?"
Before anyone could raise their hand, the door to the gym opened. Saydie walked in with Trevor behind her. She talked to Coach Jones before leaving.
Coach Jones turned to us, "everyone, this is Trevor Mitchell. He transferred from the New York school, where he was top of his class."
I slapped a hand over my eyes, please don't do what I think you're gonna do. Please, don't.
Coach Jones continues, "Faith, why don't you come spar with him? Just so we can see what he's capable of."
Great. That's just terrific. I stand up and walk down the bleachers. Her next words are what really make me wanna teleport somewhere else.
"Don't forget your weapons."
I trudge to the locker room, and suit up. When I walk out, Travis is waiting on the mat. He's wearing the same clothes as before, the only difference is he has a katana in each hand.
