"You look so handsome"
"I have been told so" he replied, red hue spreading over his cheeks.
"Can I take a selfie with you Mr.Handsome?"
Nodding enthusiastically, he snuggled close to me as we posed. Goofing around with insta filters, we missed to notice the figure which occupied the seat beside me.
"Interesting"
Startled by the baritone voice we jumped with my mobile slipping out of my hand, falling on the table.
"I'm gonna claw your eyes out if there is even a single scratch on my mobile" I warned.
"Don't worry Sam, I'll get you a new one" my handsome Rishi, consoled me while trying to direct a menacing glare at the intruder.
"Rishi!!" The man at cash counter yelled.
"I'll back" he promised, leaving me with an amused drumstick thief.
"You just keep getting more and more interesting, Sam" Drumstick thief aka Dhruv complimented me. That's when I actually turned towards him, taking in his form. And my breath hitched slightly. A 6'1" frame, perfectly built with the right amount of muscles packed in a black Armani suit was seated beside me. Though those well tanned skin and chiseled face made him rival my favourite actor, his innocent warm brown orbs just chipped something inside me.
I blinked.
"Are you by chance the younger brother of Adonis?" I queried. With an amused smile he nodded a no. Really? Then how do you look so elegantly handsome?
"I didn't expect such a welcome, Sam"
"Such in the sense?"
"I was just late by ten minutes and what do I see? My supposed date flirting and taking pictures with some other guy. Unbelievable!" he let out a dramatic sigh.
"Woah there!! Hold your horses. Nobody is out on a date here. I'm here to collect my babies whom you cruelly kidnapped that night" I replied.
"So you say that you wouldn't agree to go on a date with me" Who said so? I would jump at the offer.
"I wouldn't" sipping my cappuccino, I replied flatly.
"I'll work on that later." he replied taking out a neatly gift wrapped package.
You will? Yay!!. You can tag my inner self a shameless desperate.
"So... Why did the Great Dhruv Dara recommend my band for Melos launch?" If he had done that to get close to me, his jet black hair is gonna be shaved off.
"The newyear party in which you performed had many of our broad members and I was called down by one of them who found your twisted music saga promising enough to rule the next five years of Indian music field. And imagine my shock when I saw the hurricane who was fighting with me over a stupid pair of sticks perform like the personification of Grace.
I was impressed. The board was impressed and with a little persuasion from my side, my cousion who is currently managing Melos agreed for your auditioning"
So this wasn't to impress me?
"Don't be stupid Sam. Did you seriously think I would gamble with my company's venture just to impress a girl? I'm a businessman. Give me some credits.
And I know that a self-respecting girl like you wouldn't fall for cheap tactics like that. Only the charming character which I'm blessed with could impress you."
Charming
"Told you so"
"I'm speaking out aloud, am I not?"
"Yup" he chuckled.
Facepalm
"So here are your drumsticks, sweetheart" I placed them beside me on the cream-white cushion.
"So what's with that note you sent me?"
"Simple. You are the most intriguing and entertaining person I had ever met in my 26 years of life, and I would love to know more about you. So will you..." whatever he was intending to say was cut off by Rishi.
"Sam!!" He sung running towards me.
With a red rose in a hand and another hand tucked inside his jean pocket, he's stood infront of me. He lowered his head with a adorable smile and red hue spread over his cheeks.
"Will you be my girlfriend?" Aww, who could say no to this cutiepie.
"Ofcouse darling" I said, taking the six year old into my arms.
As I kissed his cheeks, he poked his tongue out to Dhuruv receiving a glare in return.
Men's ego
"Rishi, I told you not to disturb them" his father who was working on the cash counter came to take him away. "It okay, this adorable champ isn't disturbing us. You get back to your work. We will entertain him for sometime" Dhruv came to Rishi's rescue.
And the next hour saw one of the powerful businessmen in the country singing 'do-you-wanna-build-a-snowman', losing mobile games and goofing around with a walking practical joke like me to entertain my six year old boyfriend. In short, impressing me.
"It's getting late, I'll have to leave" I got up to leave.
"WAIT! I wanted to..." I interrupted him.
"Sorry Dhruv, I really need to go... bye" I left behind a disappointed Dhruv.
I don't know what I would say if he asked me out on a date. My anxiety level is too high to provide him with a proper answer. I dont do good with these confrontations, surprises, pressure or adrenaline in general. Either I blabber, run away or faint. I don't want any of these to happen now. And I had the best solution for this problem
Walking a few feet away form the coffee shop, I started the countdown.
1..2..3..
And my phone went off displaying his name. SUCCESS!!
"Yes Dhruv" I answered in the most nonchalant way possible.
"Sam, you left your drumsticks here"
"Is that so? How could I be this careless?" I feigned innocence.
"Dhruv, could you meet me at the beach tomorrow and give me those sticks?"
The line was silent for one good minute. Then I heard him laugh, a full heart-fealt charming laugh.
"Sure Sam. With pleasure"
"And this isn't a date Dhruv"
"Ofcourse sweetheart"
