Playing for a favour

What is the most irritating sound according to you?

Nail scratching, paper rustling, snores of boyfriend or your best friend singing? But I could confidently bet that for half the population on the face of Earth, it's their morning alarm and I'm no exception. Snoozing the alarm for the seventh time, I tried to continue my cuddle session with my pillow until the doorbell disturbed.

I took a glance at my bed side clock to find that it was five past nine. Before you start scrunching up your nose and stamping me as a lazy sloth, you should see my sister on Sunday mornings. Or Monday mornings or... Nah, any morning in general. I would happily choose a zombie apocalypse than waking Aru. She is literally a bad tempered velociraptor on vodka for an hour from the moment she wakes up. It's safer to say that she's not a morning person.

But there have been no morning tantrums for the past four months. In fact, there have been no food fights, no peppy south numbers tearing my eardrums, no burnt pancakes, no stolen chocolates, no movie marathons, no one to fight over ice creams, no ear to listen to my pointless dramas, no doll for mom to spoil with care, no make-up free face for Arjun to secretly admire and no little sister who discretely places a kiss over my forehead after covering me with a duvet, assuming I'm asleep. In simple, there was no Arunthati.

And I miss my scarecrow...

Jumping off my bed and stifling a yawn, I sauntered to the door with a half-awake mind. Opening the door I found a sky blue hood clad Dhruv, gawking at me wide eyed.

"I know I look irresistible in my pokemon PJ with drool coated face and a messy bun. Don't make it obvious by staring" Rolling my eyes I pulled him in. In response, he let out his trademark oh-so-sexy chuckle. Why the hell is he so perfect?

"Where is Ragini?" Dhruv made himself comfortable on the couch.

"Off to Banglore to attend a wedding and to check on Arjun"

"Check?"

"Yes! To make sure he is not mopping around with his stony face and to sprinkle some motherly affection. He left the day before we met due to his impending promotion and his calls have been less frequent since then. Moron."

"I get it.

Have you told him about us. For your blabber session, I get that he holds an important place in this family. So it's necessary, he knows about your boyfriend who is apparently the boss whom he warned you about, right?"

Getting my brush, I walked back to him. "How thoughtful of you!!" Batting my eyelashes, I made him aware of my annoyed mood.

"No. I haven't told him and I have informed mom not to tell him. He is already missing this family and is unnecessarily stressed about our safety. I don't want that imbecile to drop his project and rush back here to make an investigation on you." moving back to my room, I started brushing.

"How thoughtful of you!!" he mimicked me.

"How was your show last night?" He asked, excited to know about my performance.

"Wonderful as usual" I replied nonchalantly while I came back to the living room.

"Are you annoyed that I did not attend? I'm sorry sweetheart... It was a really important deal. You know I wound never miss your performance, I had my men record the show and I..." his voice flattered as I moved into his arms. And he tightened the embrace instinctively.

"I'm not annoyed at you Dhruv"

"Then what else is troubling you"

"I just miss her" my voice was feeble but filled with longing.

Since I lost my father at the age of nine, Arunthati has been there for me. Mom was the pillar that held this deformed family, but Aru was the magic dust that transformed it once again into a complete family. She didn't do anything but she was there, silent strong, stubborn, wiping away the flowing tears, making reasons to smile, giving hope to live and move on. And we moved on.

She was there to pull me out of depression and push me back to my goofy self. She stood by me, watching my back when I went around doing all sort of mischiefs. She made me realize it was music I was passionate about and set me back on my path. When people ridiculed my dreams and decisions, it was Arunthati who shielded my fragile heart. She was there right from the beginning, all the way along my struggles.

And when I'm finally living my dreams, she isn't here. And I miss my sister.

I know that she is just pursuing her dreams like I'm and will be back in four months and its my whiny self throwing tantrums. But this thing called heart is always unreasonable. And since last show, my thoughts are constantly hovering over my scarecrow.

I stayed in Dhruv's comfort for a while after which he fixed me a decent breakfast. He wasn't a great cook anyway.

"Will you do me a favour sweetheart?" Dhruv asked.

"What are you planning now?" I was suspicious. He could do any work within a blink of eye given the manpower and wealth he has, and he asks my favour! Ofcourse I'm suspicious. He was planning something to take my mind off Aru. I'm sure of that.

Heaving a sigh he moved closer to me making me move back, eventually cornering me. "Will you do me a favour?" his voice turned husky and my heartbeat increased. "First tell me what it is. I'll think on it" I managed to mutter. Resting his palms on the wall, he caged me between him and the wall. Leaning closer he intentionally breathed near my ear, making me shiver.

"Will you?" He rasped. And I closed my eyes while my hands fisted themselves over his chest.

"Answer me" His lips traced the rim of my ear.

"Ok" I wasn't in control of my body or my mind anymore.

"Good" placing a chaste kiss on my jawline, he moved back.
