Samantha's Pov.
Carl, Rick, Michonne and I were packing a bag with food and water bottles for the run.
"Are we good?" Michonne asked and Carl and I looked over at Rick as he nodded.
"Lets go." Rick said and we started heading out. Justin stopped me in my tracks.
"Sam, please be careful. Always stay within their sight. Im trusting you, okay? " He whispered and I rolled my eyes.
"I know. They will take care of me. Plus, I'm old enough to know these things..." I told him walking off to them again.
Yeah, I know he was just being an older brother and guardian, but I'm not five anymore. I can take care of myself...
I sighed and shook the thought out my head.I caught up with them outside where Michonne and Rick was putting the bag in the trunk and a couple of weapons and guns in there too. Carl was already inside the car, and I made my way to him.
I opened the door and scooted myself next to him.
He turned towards me and smirked.
"Hey, what did Justin say?" he asked, giving a side grin.
"Nothing really. He just told me to stay safe. Like I don't know that already...." I scoffed and shrugged.
"Um, did he say anything about me?" he asked stuttering a bit.
I looked at him and scrunched my eyebrows.
"No? Why would he?" I asked him curiously. He rubbed the back of his neck and shrugged.
"I think he's still mad at me from what happened, before. Like it should have been me..." he said which made me grow a little furious.
"Hey, look at me." I softly caressed my hand on his cheek motioning his eyes to meet mine. "Never say it should of been you. Things always happen for a reason. Somehow, after my injury, everyone seemed to grow closer. Especially me and you. Ill talk to him about it, but never say that again." I explained, kissing his lips.
He nodded his head and we both acted as if nothing happened when Rick and Michonne got inside the car.
She looked back at us and nodded her head signaling we were leaving.
Rick drove away from the prison, and ever so often a walker or two would spot us and try to follow.
I laid my head on Carls shoulder, nobody speaking, which created a somewhat awkward silence. To add to the awkwardness, almost every three minutes or so, I would always spot Rick peeking through the rear-view mirror eyeing us, but with a small grin on his lips.
"So, Samantha, How's the wound healing?" Rick said breaking the silence. I shot my head up and nodded my head slowly.
"Dad..." Carl warned.
"It's okay..." I whispered in his ear. "Yeah, I'm doing better. Of course I still have a scar, but all that matters is that I'm okay." I said forcing a grin on my face. I was happy to talk to my boyfriends dad, something I hardly get to do, but it was just a little, weird per say.
'Yeah- yeah, I know how you feel. Y'know, all of us in this vehicle have been shot before?" he said with such amazement in his voice.
"Yeah, crazy to think about..." I admitted and he lifted an eyebrow.
"So I'm guessing Carl had told you things about me? What else did he say?" he chuckled, obviously wanting to hear what his son had to say about him.
I felt Carl's hand slide to my thigh, pinching me which was telling me not to tell him anything. Things such as Shane, and what he knew about Lori and him.
I shook my head. "Nope. Nothing else." I lied and Rick nodded and smiled.
I heard Carl chuckle a bit and I leaned my head on his.
"Good save." he whispered in my ear. His lips found its way to the nip of my ear and softly kissed it. Chills crept across my skin as I bit my lip.
But we got interrupted by us driving slowly past a man walking with a huge orange bag slumped on his back. Thinking its a walker, Rick slowed down, but the man started screaming on the top of his lungs wanting us to stop for him and to help him.
"Shit..." Rick mumbled driving a little faster a the man ran after us.
"HELP! PLEASE! I NEED HELP! IM NOT BAD!" was all I picked up from him.
"Aren't we going to help him?! Guys, He's still Alive! " I shouted helplessly. My eyes grew wide and my heart started beating faster.
"He could be bit, Sam! He'll be okay if he's not."Michonne said, obviously thinking I'm stupid.
I opened my mouth to say something, but closed it instantly, not wanting to start an argument. I slumped into the seat, crossing my arms like a five year old. It's crazy living in a world like this, everyone seems to turn as cold as ice and how we can hardly help people anymore. Living and trying to stay alive and well is all we have to think about. Nothing else matters...
Well, at least I didn't dare to think like that. I still try to live life as it was before, with showing of compassion and help for others. Michonne did have a point though...We continued driving at a fast speed until we knew we were far away from that man.
Again, another obstacle came upon us.
The damn car got caught in a mud puddle and the tire wouldn't get out.
Rick pressed the pedal repeatedly and nothing. Carl and I sighed, both Of us getting bored and annoyed.
Rick opened the door and Michonne followed, both slamming the door.
"Were alone again." he said cracking a smirk. His hands have been quite wandery lately, which I didn't mind, but made me question whats been going on. His hands rubbed against my upper thigh, as he kissed me. I smiled in between our kiss.
"Yeah, but they're legit three feet away from us." I said matter-of-factly.
He gave a sarcastic laugh.
"Yeah, but the windows are tinted, they can't see us." he said and in defeat I kissed him again.
In between the kiss, We heard a knock on the window and Ricks face on the window, squinting his eyes trying to see us.
"Holy shit, that's scary." I said laughing.
I opened the door and my grin instantly dropped and my stomach plunged to the floor. Walkers were coming from the woods and the car was still stuck in the mud.
"Help us and hurry! There's more on its way!" he shouted and We both grabbed out guns exiting the car.
Michonne and I were digging the tire out of the mud, which seemed impossible because every time we scooped the mud, the rest would sink into the spot we cleared out. Carl an his father were shooting the oncoming walkers that were close by. The man that we saw before was still running after us and he was still screaming like a baby.
That fucker was attracting the walkers from the woods to us..
"Hurry!" Rick yelled.
We dug faster, until the tire was cleared all around.
"Come on! Lets go!" Michonne demanded as we all jumped into the car, scared of our minds.
Rick gassed the pedal three times, before the tire let up and we were on our way again. The rest of the car ride we were all beat to talk. Our faces and hands were covered in dirt, and almost had a run in with a herd of walkers.
We finally reached our destination, In a town that seemed awfully too familiar. I then remembered my school was around here. Damn, how I missed school. I was even surprised to think that, because what child enjoys waking up at 6:00am and going to a place where adults judge you and kids harass you. But I did miss the friends and the regular life.
We parked in front of what seemed like a police station.
"Remember this place?" Rick asked Carl, and he nodded softly, cracking a smile. I smiled because this place was their hometown, it must have sent a surge of memories for them.
"Lets get inside." Rick insisted and we got out of the car.
We entered the building and it seemed as if it was untouched, cobwebs everywhere, a dirty smell. What to expect. We were all too busy looking around that we never noticed Rick missing.
"Dammit, no guns. Someone must've taken them all after the breakout..." He ruffled his hair and wiped his face with his bare hands. He was walking around, thinking. The three of us were sitting on the bench waiting for Rick to tell us what to do now."Maybe, maybe they are in other places. Search the houses to see if any of them have guns." He added which we all agreed to do.
"That sound good. Lets just look around to see if there's anything else here to take." Michonne said and we separated, except for Carl and I.
Hand in hand, we walked around looking at our surrounding to find anything possible to take.
"You know, I mainly came here to see this again. Where I grew up. Feels good to be here again, I would think I would never get to see it again. It reminds me of-of my mom." He explained sighing. I squeezed his hand to reassure him for everything. I looked at his face which seemed like he was holding back tears. I kissed his cheek before Rick called out on us to leave and check the rest of the town.Hey guys, sorry for not updating in the longest. everything has been so crazy for me, I need my grades to be up and my dancing classes have been stressing me out and ugh. can't wait for school to end.
