Today is my first appointment for the baby. Is it weird to say I'm kind of excited? I want to know how my baby is doing. I want to know if I'm doing everything right.
I was brushing my brown hair when my phone buzzed.
Crawford 1:16pm: I'm coming to the appointment with you.
me 1:17pm: Why? I thought you didn't want to be apart of the baby's life.
Crawford 1:18pm: I was scared Myra. Please can I come?
me 1:18pm: yeah, sure.
Was he really coming? I can't believe he's actually stepping up to the responsibility. I still have to tell my parents, but that's the hardest part out of this whole thing. My parents will kick my ass.
I picked up my keys and walked downstairs. As I was picking up an apple, I heard a honk from outside. I go walking to my front door, opening it to see who was honking their horn. Crawford was sitting in his truck, honking the horn. What the hell.
I shut the door behind me, running to his truck. I opened the passenger door and climbed inside his black vehicle.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, looking at him as I put on my seat belt.
"Waiting to go to the hospital, duh," he rolled his eyes, backing out of my driveway. We both were sitting in silence for part of the way. I was staring out the window, while Xander was driving. It was definitely getting too awkward in here. I turned on the radio, listening to the music on the station.
"So tell me about yourself, little one," he spoke, breaking the silence between us.
"What do you want to know?" I ask, slightly amused.
"How about we play that question game?" he suggested, glancing at me quickly. I nodded.
"You go first," I reply.
"Favorite color?"
"Maroon red. Do you like books?"
"You think I like reading?" he laughed, "you obviously know nothing about me."
"I'm taking that as a no.."
"Middle name?"
"Rayne. How about yours?"
"You can't use my question!" he argued.
"Must be horrible if you won't answer," I smirk.
"It's..Trinity.." He muttered, staring intensely at the road in front of us. I burst out laughing and caught him glaring at me.
"I cANT BREAThE," I said gasping for air. His deep laughter soon joined mine and we both were enjoying our time laughing together.
"OKAY, it's my turn!" he exclaimed, "Did you pick names out yet?"
"I'm sixteen Xander, of course I didn't. I have school to worry about at the moment," I explain. "Do you..you know..want to keep it?"
My attention turned towards Xander's and I found him looking pale and scared.
"I accept your decision Myra, but I'm too young for this shit right now, so I don't know if I want to.." he answered. I nodded in response and turned my attention towards the passing of cars and buildings. I felt a hand placed on my thigh and I look to see a smirking Xander.
"What the hell do you think you are doing?" I ask in complete shock. He shrugged with his stupid smirk still plastered on his annoyingly handsome face. I glare at him until he finally surrenders, putting his hands in the air.
"DON"T LET GO OF THE STEERING WHEEL YOU DUMBASS!" I yell. He's so dumb I swear.
~~~
We finally got into a hospital room and right now Xander and I were waiting. The room was completely white, with posters of pregnancy shit all over. There was a hospital bed in the middle of the room and monitors on the side.
"Soooo..." Xander said awkwardly.
"Soooo..." I looked at him, smiling.
"Soooo can be our always," he winked. Did he really just say that?
"You my friend, are an idiot," I laughed softly. My hands were rested on my stomach, while Xander watched my hands.
"I can't believe this is happening," he whispered to himself, at least I think so.
"I can't believe it either," I said, looking at my stomach.
Someone knocked on the door, then walked in. I'm pretty sure it's the doctor who is giving me a checkup.
"Hello, I am Dr. Martin and I will be checking on your child for you," the male doctor said. I nodded in response, playing with my mother's old ring on my finger. I think Xander saw me getting nervous because I felt his hand intertwining with mine. What happened to his bad boy reputation? I don't think anybody saw this side of Xander Crawford before.
The doctor laid me down and put some gel stuff on my stomach so he can do the ultrasound. It feels cold and gross. I hate it.
Dr. Martin was searching for the baby for about 30 seconds, but then a loud heartbeat was heard from the monitors. I gasped and looked at the little picture of my baby on the little screen. The baby wasn't formed yet because it is only a few weeks old, but they are in there. Xander was still holding my hand and I felt him squeeze it a little tighter when he heard the baby's heartbeat.
"Oh my god," I whisper to myself.
"Is..is that the baby?" Xander asked, obviously shocked by the way he sounded. The doctor nodded and looked at the monitor.
"Okay, so it seems the baby is perfectly healthy, but since it's the first trimester, you have to take good care of the baby," Dr. Martin explained, "the first trimester is always the most important because of the development of the heart, brain and lungs. But it seems here that you are around 3 and a half weeks pregnant."
"That sounds about right, thank you," I smile in return. "Can you give us a moment?"
"Oh, right!" Dr. Martin smiled at us and left the room quietly. I turn towards Xander to see him still staring at the screen in complete shock.
"Xander," I spoke. No answer. "Xander!" still no answer. "XANDER!"
He jumped at my sudden outburst and looked at me, "What?!"
"Any thoughts?" I question.
"You have to get rid of it," he answered quickly. I stared at him confused. He literally just said he accepted my decision.
"What??"
"Get rid of it now, Myra."
"Why are you saying this now?! You just said you accepted my decision!"
"I don't want the baby, and you certainly don't want to have it yourself," he replied through gritted teeth. "Get rid of it before I will."
