Part 6-Beating Heart

"One glance at you.. that's all it takes to make my heart beat faster...."

The silence is deafening. Ang tanging patunay lamang na naghahapunan sila ay ang pagkalansingan ng mga kubyertos. She may have created a scene a while ago, though it wasn't her intention.  Alright, it was her intention to caught Jax's attention.

Why not?

This Jax is not only handsome, he has the angst and atttitude. And she like that--lalo lamang nadagdagan ang kuryosidad niya dito.

They were on a round table and Jax is sitting beside her. Since no one is talking and it bored her to death, she unintentionally paid attention to him. His profile is really fit for a celebrity or a model rather than a business man. But what really awed her is the way he eats. Pantay-pantay nitong hinihiwa ang mga karne, umiinom ito ng tubig sa tuwing ikatlong subo, pagkatapos ay magpupunas. Pati ba pagkain kailangan may pattern?

"Ganyan ka talaga kumain?" Hindi niya naiwasang tanungin. She feels the sharp gazes people around them but what the hell? She's curious.

Jax spoon stop in mid air and carefully put it on the plate without making any noise. Uminom muna ito ng tubig bago sumagot.

"I could ask you the same question.." he said. Bahagya itong tumagilid upang magkaharap sila. Then reached out for the table napkin and wipe his mouth. Wala naman siya nakikitang dumi roon, in fact his lips are red and wet. "Ganyan ka ba talaga kumain?" ulit nito sa tanong niya.

"Walang mali sa pagkain ko." inis na sagot niya. This man has a way of twisting her words.

One corner of his lips twisted for a sarcastic smile. "You're staring at me while I eat—that's improper." One of his hand reaches the table napkin on her lap that made her skip a breath. Bahagya itong nadikit sa kanya and she'd swear that his scent intoxicates her. "You should focus on the meal and not to me. I can assure you, I'm not as tasty as the meat." he said casually. Too casual that it sounds annoying.

Her eyes turn rounder as she felt the burning of her cheeks. Napatingin siya sa mga magulang nila. She sees that amusement overrides the awkwardness—it seems that they are enjoying what they are seeing.

"I'm not watching you." She said epending herself. "Pinapanood ko kung — " a table napkin touch the edge of her lips which made her still.

"You have something here.."

Her breathing became uneven as she watched her wiping her mouth. His body is leaning forward and she is inhaling his natural scent. A mixture of signature men's perfume with a manly smell.

Shit! Nakalimutan niya na kung anong sasabihin niya. Is he teasing her?

Tumayo siya upang mawala sa kung ano mang mahika ang nakabalot sa kanya. She grabs her pouch and was about to turn her back when she hears the voice of her mother.

"Saan ka pupunta?" tanong nito

"Comfort room." Her breathing still uneven.

"You can say 'Excuse me', para lang alam namin na aalis ka" Jax said which made her look at him. She sounds serious this time.

"Kahit hindi ako dadaan?" Pamimilosopo niya. She saw from the corner of her eyes that his parents laughed.

"That's a simple courtesy, lady. May kasama ka, just so you know.."

"Jax, give Blaze a break.." wika ng ina ng binata. "Sige na, hija.." the old woman even smiled kindly at her ngunit binale wala lamang niya iyon at mabibigat ang hakbang naglakad patungo sa rest room.
