I left shortly after Mark had disappeared and went straight to my room. The others need to hear about this. I knew Cassidy's appearance was going to lead to something bad. She showed up at the perfect time for her plan to work but ours will work first. It has to end now.
"Jack? What's up?" Felix asked when I shadow jumped back to the base.
"Dark is coming back and it's through Mark. Mark has gone somewhere, I don't know where, but I will have a window to take out the second target. Do I have permission?" I said quickly. Felix looked flustered at the sudden input of information and shook his head.
"What? Slow down," he said but this time I shook my head.
"No time, do I have permission to kill or not?" I asked. He let out a sigh and nodded, leaving me to shadow jump away and appear in full suit in front of the control room. I cast a spell, rendering me invisible as I followed the footsteps to the Headmaster's office; remembering the way from watching Bob on the cameras when he visited her. I jumped into her room and became fully visable as she looked at me. She had a stern yet distressed look on her face. She took a deep breath, her eyes never leaving me as I stood before her.
"I already know what you want and you won't get it," she said sternly.
"I have two targets. My choice on who to kill," I said in a deep voice, slowly walking over to a wall where photos of seniors lay across the wall. "Do you know who those two people are?"
"I know one is me," she said as she tried to read my mind. I shoved her off as I pulled out a knife and stabbed it into a single photo.
"Two targets. Who should I kill?" I asked, looking at her as her face filled with sorrow. She looked down, seeming almost immediately defeated.
"You know it won't be easy to kill me. They'll find out," she said.
"I have a mission," I said, using dark magic to block out emotions.
"And I have mine," she said, suddenly inside my head and forcing herself into my memories. All of my past started flashing through my mind. Being bullied, lashing out. Killing my parents with the darkness that controlled me. Just floating through several years of villain school. All the people I killed. Each. And. Every. One...
I let out a scream, having enough of my memory, and threw a wave of darkness and shadows at the headmaster and immediately killing her. I fell to the ground, tears blurring my vision as her thoughts crowded my head. Get out. Get out. Get it! GET OUT!
I gasped for air as I looked at the image of Mark, my knife stabbed right through his head. I looked down as memories of him and the headmaster floated in my head, trapped there with her consciousness since she was in my mind when she died. Her mind was attached to mine now, cut off from her body... unless.
I stood up, stumbling over to the Headmaster's body and gently holding her face in my hands. I channelled all my energy into using shadow magic to draw the life out of unnecessary things and transfer it back into her body before pushing her mind out of mine and back into her body.
I stepped back as she gasped for air and shadow jumped away, her memory of me still stuck in my mind. She didn't need to know about me, just an assassin. It would endanger the mission more. She won't be able to use magic and her powers would be as if only just unlocking them but at least she's alive and there for Mark. He needs it if he wants to keep the shadows out.
"Jack! What happened?" Felix asked as I returned to base, feeling drained and dizzy. I collapsed to the ground as Ken raced in to aid me and Felix tried to assist.
"Did you use shadow magic again?" Ken asked, already knowing the answer from my slight smirk.
"Y-yeah... so wh-what?" I breathed out but my energy was slowly coming back to me.
"You know it drains your energy. And shadow jumping right after? Your going to kill yourself one day," Ken said but chuckled after.
"Maybe I have a death wish then," I said, remembering what Mark said. I frowned at the thought of him.
"Mission nearly done. Cry is currently removing your existence as we speak and I'm going to go erase you from people's memory," Felix said with a proud smile.
"We need to locate Mark," I said quietly. "He teleported somewhere and I think Dark is linked to him."
"What makes you think that?" Ken asked.
"Because he used shadow magic and his eyes turned red. Cassidy might take this to her advantage. She was in love with him back in villain school. I remember seeing it in her memories one time," I said, the flashback to when I first met everyone coming back to mind.
"Shit. We need to find Mark and kill him before she gets to him," Felix said, making my chest tighten.
"NO!," I said before I realized I'd even spoken. I looked down, feeling ashamed as Felix stared me down.
"No? Do you.. like him Sean?" Felix said and I felt my blood run cold.
"Don't call me that," I said, the room becoming ice cold.
"Jack, breath," Ken said but I didn't care. Felix had stepped over the line.
"Report to the Boss immediately. She will hear of this," Felix said before walking away. Then it all clicked. He didn't care about me. He only needed me because no one else was better at what I do. He used me...
"Jack? Are you okay?" Ken asked. He clearly cares at least...
"I'm fine," I mumbled before shadow jumping to the villain school, where the Boss stayed. Come to think or it, both the Boss and the Headmaster run schools. One for good and one for bad. Are they... related in some way?
