As soon as the doorbell rings, Mom swings it open,"Come in! We have been anxiously awaiting you!"

Nana holds a huge box in her arms, that has the top partially opened,"Hi! Caleb dear, could you clear off the coffee table?"

"Sure Nana." He mumbles, grabbing my books and tossing them on my lap. He just moves our mail to the other side of the table.

"Ok sweeties, you have to be super careful with these gifts. They require a lot of maintenance." She says.

As I am about to ask what it is, I hear a soft meow  from the box. I squeal, looking through the top of the box. Inside are two adorably tiny black and orange Calico cats, one with one blue eye on the black part of the face, and one green eye on the other.

I pick up the tiny kitten, and it purrs when I hold it close to me. "How? When? Why? And... What genders?"

"My neighbors Calico kitties had babies, and was giving them away for free. I figured, what better way to celebrate the beginning of the school year than some new kittens! Your mother thought it was an amazing idea. The one Beatrice is holding is a girl, and Caleb, yours is a boy." She explains, watching us embrace the kittens.

Caleb looks so funny holding a tiny kitten, but in a way, it's adorable. I snuggle my little girl against my chest, and she snuggles up, "Do they have names, or can we name them?" I ask, holding her tiny body up in front of me.

"They are all yours, I have some food and litterboxes for you to get started." She says, pulling the rest out of the huge box.

I hold her in front of my face, and smile,"I think your name is...Callie"

She meows at me, "Does that mean no?"

She meows again.

"Ok, how about... Lucy?" I say.

She purrs and rubs against my face,"Lucy it is!"

Mom laughs at me, "You know cats don't understand you right?"

I grin,"Well Lucy does, and I love the name Lucy. Caleb, what are you naming yours?"

His kitten has crawled up onto his shoulder, and is leaning against his head.

"I am thinking, Casper." He says, picking up his cat and holding him near his face. Casper licks his nose.

I laugh,"Perfect. Casper and Lucy. Thank you so much Nana!"

She smiles form ear to ear,"It was my pleasure, I am glad I gave you something to make you happy. We can go out for lunch and then I have to drive home. Your Papa wants me to be home in time to watch M.A.S.H. with him."

"This is the best thing to happen in a long time," I say, hugging Lucy. She seems to like me. I bring her upstairs, and set her on my bed. She immediately lays down to sleep.

I look out my window, seeing what the weather is like. It is still super sunny outside, and I know I can put on easy clothes. I also notice something else, the tree outside my window stretches clear across to Four's house. Well I mean, if I ever need help...

"Hurry up Beatrice!" Nana says, banging on my door.

"It's Tris! And okay!" I say, pulling myself out of the trance.

I find some white jean shorts and a blue tank top. I put on the leather jacket Christina got me, loving the feeling and the smell of it.

I put on some flip flops and pick up Lucy, heading downstairs.

"Can we go somewhere that allows pets?" I ask, holding her up in one hand.

"There is a family owned place, Sunshine Cafe, that let's pets in. We can grab them a little cat food and and put them in a pet carrier." Mom says.

"Purrfect!" I grin.

Nana laughs at my glorious pun, and Mom and Caleb just roll their eyes.

Caleb finds an old cat carrier in the garage, from our old fat cat, Louis, that ran away.

I find a fleece blanket to put on the bottom, and we set them in. Casper immediately curls up to his sister, and they start to sleep.

"They are so adorable!" I say, giving them each one last pet before closing the door.

"Go grab a little food bowl and a baggy of food. I have some milk substitute for them." Nana says, shooing off Caleb.

I pick up the cats, careful to not move it around too much, and set them in the back of my Mom's SUV.

I strap the whole carrier into the middle seat, and sit down beside them. Mom and Nana get up front, and Caleb sits in the back with me.

"Everyone strapped in?" Mom asks, looking at us through her mirror.

"Yup!" I say, smiling.

She pulls out, and I keep a firm grip on the kitty carrier. I hear a quiet meow as Casper and Lucy realize we are moving. I laugh, "These little ones are so adorable!"

"Of course they are! I knew you would love those two the most!" Nana says, giving me a sweet grin.

I think these little ones will be a little light in our lives after one of the worst darkness's ever.
