It takes me nearly an hour to finish breakfast, my mind not quite functioning yet. Mom is making me go back to school, mainly because I've stayed back the last three days with Tobias.
He got his memory back quickly, which made all of us happy. Tobias told me that being in that old state of mind was insane for him, and now he feels bad. I grin, knowing that even if he was in a fatal incident, he still tried to make me happy.
"Tris, I know you woke up early, but that doesn't mean you can spend twenty minutes on a single piece of bacon." Mom says, taking my plate away.
I shake my head, trying to get my mind out of the gutters. I've got to get myself back into the real world!
The weather outside is getting much colder, the October days bringing snow earlier than usual. That allows me to use all of those cold weather clothes Christina bought me, which is nice.
I head upstairs, finally focused on the task at hand; Don't look like trash.
That's a hard one.
I pull through a few put-together outfits, before settling on one with many parts. My top is covered in a cozy, loose red sweater, and skinny jeans are tight around my legs. I put on my coat, a plain white one, and some Uggs, which Tobias actually ordered for our two month anniversary. I brush my hair out, leaving it down, then add a white hat with a brown fur ball on top. It's a cute, simple outfit, which I admire.
I use some basic makeup, but don't bother with fancy lips, just gloss, or contouring, just concealer. I still curl my eyelashes, adding mascara, but besides that, I don't do much.
"Tris, the bus will be here soon!" Mom shouts.
I squeal frantically collecting my things. After giving Lucy a quick kiss on the head, I dart downstairs in a hectic frenzy.
"Remember to be home right after school, and I'll drop you off at work!" Mom reminds me, my body flailing past her.
"Bye, Love you!"
My footsteps are loud and messy, creating an unnecessary clamor in the otherwise silent street. Of course, the Pedrad's rushing out of their own house doesn't help with the noise. The bus screeches to a stop at the end of the street, and we all rush in a heaping herd of chaotic teenagers.
It's been a while since I've taken the bus, otherwise I've been riding home with Tobias or Christina. It's almost uncomfortable, but I still know most of the people now.
We get into the bus, shooting for the middle seats. I end up sitting next to Uri, while Zeke sits next to Johanna.
"You guys are a hot mess." She remarks, laughing at our disorderly appearance.
I sigh, "Well, it's been a little stressful lately."
She nods, frowning a bit, "I know about that, how is Four?"
It's been a pain forcing the media to keep his name known as a number.
"He's still recovering, he will be in the hospital for another week. That's why I've been gone, I've been with him.
She exhales, "That must be hard. I hope he's getting better, honestly."
I give her a half-hearted smile, not really wanting to focus on that. I spend most of the short bus ride fixing my outfit and reorganizing my bag, it still being messy from a frenzied back.
When we arrive, I shove my way through the swarm of people, getting off of the bus close to first. People seem to be giving me that pity look again, which is bothering. Haven't they learned nothing good comes from that?
