The morning seems dreary. When somebody says a morning is dreary, you expect rain or clouds or a reason for it to be, as you say, dreary.

Today the sun is shining, and birds are singing. Light pours through the window like some kind of godlike being. But it's still dreary. The air feels stale, and I can barely bring myself to escape the pull of my snug blankets. Nowhere in my body is there a single ounce of motivation.

"Tris! Are you awake yet?" Caleb screeches, his voice coming from the opposite side of the house.

"I am now!" I shout back, my voice dripping with annoyance.

I suppose that's a cue, so I bring myself to at least sit up from the bed.

Mom did let me stay home yesterday, which was very much appreciated. Tobias came over, and we played board games and watched mindless shows on cable. We played with Casper and Lucy as well, the two having a great bond. There was an odd sense of comfort, just having him there to be with me.

Now, we actually have to take care of our responsibilities, which means going to school. My feet find their way to the floor, slipping off to the side of the bed. I stretch out my arms, letting out a massive yawn.

I suspect the main reason that nobody actually likes going to school, is the time. We have to wake up as early as five in the morning, get ready, all while still half asleep. A lot of kids have trouble with learning, but in all honesty, they would be better if school was later in the day. Personally, my brain doesn't start functioning until third period, which is why have have lower grades in my first two classes. Still, I'm passing, which I guess is the most important part of everything.

I bring myself to get to the closet, where my hands shuffle through all of the clothes Christina has bought me. That girl confuses me, she bought three shirts, all the same style, but just because each was a different color. My mind has never quite been able to grasp the concept of buying so many of the same clothing item, but it probably matters more when you have the actual money to throw away on those things.

I grab an outfit that looks nice enough, but is also one that I was wanting to try on. The top is a plain, v-neck, red long sleeve shirt. It is paired with a simple, high-waisted, black skirt, and black thigh-high boots. I couldn't believe it when Chris picked those out, they were three-hundred and forty-five dollars. (A/N The actual price of those boots is $2,565!!!!)

My brain said Christina Kravitz had literally gone insane, but she insisted, "Every girl needs a pair of thigh-high's!

I go into the bathroom, and do some more bold makeup. My eyes are accentuated with slightly winged eyeliner and mascara, and a little eyeshadow. I put my new, Shauna taught, eyebrow skills to work, and fill them in. My lips are covered in dark red lipstick, making a bold look. Of course, my face is covered in foundation, and contoured, something I'm much better at now.

My hair gets pulled into a bun, something easy, and more manageable. The hangover dark circles under my eyes have slowly gone away, but my makeup covers up any remaining bits.

I look over the outfit in the mirror, more than satisfied. Even if I'm stubborn sometimes, I have to admit, these boots are killer. For once, I look like I have legs for days. Christina is, in fact, a miracle worker.

Pleased with the ensemble put together, I grab the sleeping Lucy from her bed, with some formula and dry food. I take her with me downstairs, so I can eat while she eats her own mushy kitten concoction.

I stick two waffles in the toaster, and while it cooks, I mix up Lucy's formula. When it is finished, she happily laps up the liquid, while sitting on the counter. At this point, she eats a little dry food with her formula.
