Clyde carried me for about 2 mins until he started to complain about me weighing to much. This of course was expected from him, who was always ruining the moment with a comment that reminded me he wasn't the gentleman I wanted. The stroll through the hall was nice. I could feel his eyes on me and I tried my hardest to pretend like I didn't notice. We had made a right turn which after being in this castle for a long time I knew was the wrong way towards the ball room.

"Where are we going?" I exclaimed.

"Well my dear Acacia, the ball starts in about 5 mins and I need to make a grand entrance and going in to early isn't an option. So we are making a little detour."

" I take it that you aren't going to tell me what this so called detour is."

Instead of answering he turned his head away in a smile. Making me even more curious. He had told me to close my eyes and so I listened hoping this wasn't some sort of prank. He had grabbed my hand and guided me down the hall till I heard the creak of the door and started to feel a chill. When I opened my eyes I was out on a balcony and surrounded by snow. Wonderland was such a strange place one minute it was sunny and bright and the next it was cool and the ground a shimmering white with no foot prints to be seen. The view was astonishing and I loved every second of it. How he knew I liked snow I had no clue but I didn't want to ruin the moment by asking questions. He came out on the balcony and stood beside me. I looked up at him, staring into those beautiful black eyes that complimented him so well. As he started to lean in toward me, I felt the desire to remain in this position forever but I quickly turned away. I can't. It would hurt me so, to kiss him and leave. I knew in this moment today was the going to be the last day we shared together.

"We should go, if we don't leave now your fashionably late will be considered as rude."

"Okay." He said, clearly hurt by the rejection.

He offered me his arm and led me straight to the ball room without a word. I started to regret my decision to turn away but I knew it was the right thing to do. There was no point in leading him on, no matter how much I wanted him. The guards opened the doors to the ball room and the white rabbit announced...

" The arrival you have all been waiting for Prince Clyde and Lady Acacia."

Everyone stared in awe as we walked into the room and they were right too. We looked amazing together. As we descended the stairs all the lady's present glared at me while the men in the room stared at me dazzled and drooling As the first song began to play he grabbed hold of my waist and held me tight against his chest. We had so much chemistry, and the exploding heart fireworks above our heads didn't make it any less magical. Everything was perfect until he let go of my waist and grabbed another girls hand leading her out on the dance floor. I was appalled that he would even think this was okay. He invited me and decided to dance with another. Probably in-spite of me turning away. I guess I deserved this.

Five dances past and he ignored me, practically the whole time other then the slight glances he took over the girls shoulders to see if I was annoyed with him. Which I was. I was about to leave when a tall handsome male asked me too dance. If he could play this game so could I. He pulled me out to the dance floor and it only took one glance over at Clyde, to see he was no longer happy with this arrangement. I couldn't help but smirk as he watched us dance completely ignoring the girl he was with. After realizing how cruel I was being leading this man on I waited for the song to end and gracefully curtseyed to my mystery partner. I started to make my way out of the ball room when Clyde ran after me...

"Where are you going?"

" Back to my room. All that standing has tired me out." I said angrily.

"Acacia wait!"

"What Clyde? Do you want me to go back and watch you dance for another 4 hours, will that satisfy you?"

"Never mind just go." He said spitefully.

"Happy birthday Clyde."

"Thanks."

Little did he know those were the last words he would ever hear me say. I was packing tonight and heading towards the White Castle. It was the best time to leave. The queen was gone and Clyde was distracted with the ball. There is so many hearts on these wall but none of them were as broken as mine.
Maybe I would have stayed had he tried harder but instead he let me go. In my heart I knew this is how it would always be.

"Goodbye." I whispered under my breath a tear streaking down my cheek.
