"It would be so nice if something made sense for a change." - Lewis Carroll
There has to be a way for me to get out of here. One would think that life in a castle would be wonderful but this experience is anything but. If I have to listen to the annoying squeak of the queens voice everyday for the rest of my life, I might blow my cover and say something I'm not supposed too. Tonight I have been invited to have dinner with the royal family and in preparation the queens seamstress is making me a dress. The dress is of course red and completely not my style. There was about a million ruffles and that made me wanna hurl. I could already picture Clyde's face as I walked into the dining room in this terrible gown. I'm starting to think that this castles main goal is to make everyone and everything a disgusting sight.
After collapsing onto my new bed and an excessive amount of screaming into my pillow, I decided to fix up what I could with my outfit and head downstairs to meet with the royal family. All I wanted to do was leave but I knew that even if I had tried to escape I wouldn't stand a chance against the palace card guards.
I slowly made my way downstairs sulking as I did so, every palace guard I passed asked if I needed to use the bathroom and I am sincerely offended they would think that seeing as it's my regular facial expression. As I burst into the dining room I realized that I hadn't been graceful in my entrance and probably would be punished for such. The first thing I did was glance over at Clyde who's face said it all. I look absolutely hideous. The queen pointed towards the seat across from Clyde and this time I made sure that every step I made was gracefully executed and I bowed before I took my seat.
"Acacia my dear, You look astonishing." The queen said cheerfully batting her eyes acting as if her style was rubbing off on me. At the moment all I could think about was Clyde who sat across the table clearly trying not to laugh. Why do bad things always happen to good people.
"Yes it's absolutely wonderful your majesty. I am truly grateful for your generosity, being here is like a dream come true." I lied, at this comment Clyde couldn't help but laugh.
"Is something funny Clyde?" The queen asked. Clearly mad that he was laughing after such a sincere compliment.
Throughout most of the dinner I had barely said a word, not because I had nothing to say but mostly because I was worried I would slip up and say something stupid. They are anything but a normal family. Despite Clyde's rude demeanour he is actually rather kind to his father. I'm not entirely sure how a castle is run but I'm pretty sure king out ranks queen and yet the queen has no respect towards him. Every time he tried to get a word in or even tried to compliment the queen she ignored him or interrupted. The king had been part of the reason my life was saved so I began to wonder if he would assist me in my escape. As soon as the table quieted down I had asked
"Mr. ugh king, I was wondering if you would grant me the honour of having a stroll through the gardens with you. I do realize that I am only an assistant but I feel like there is plenty for me to learn about how to cope better with royalty. That is if I could be relieved for a half an hour of your services my queen."
I waited for the queen to respond first because she seemed to hold all the power in this family.
"My dear, because you have asked respectfully I will relieve you of your duties for 10 mins sometime next week but my schedule is far to busy for you to stray."
"I would love too, just set a ..."
"Date with me, before hand." The queen interrupted not letting him finish his sentence.
I waltzed out of the dining room feeling happier than ever. I could see the door to my escape wide open and this time there is no talking door nob. Clyde came out of nowhere now walking by my side.
"What are you up to?"
"What makes you think I'm up to something?"
"Oh I don't know you haven't said a word all dinner and all of a sudden you want to stroll with my father."
"Why yes, he seems like a wonderful man. So kind and humble."
"All traits I have and you didn't even think to ask me." Clyde said smirking.
I couldn't help but laugh at that comment. " if I am looking for an arrogant traitor, I'll let you know but for now I think I'm good." I said smirking back at him.
I then turned and made my way back to the queens chambers as I was to give her a sponge bath. The thought made me want to hurl. One more week Acacia, just one more week.
