Chapter 15
(Happy to Red)
Tori had planned to see Lucas after she finished her run and had a shower but it wasn’t to be. Maylene had grabbed her and whiskey her away to meet with a seamstress and decide on a wedding gown.
“So what do you think?” Maylene asked he future daughter in law.
“I don’t know. I like this top,” she said gesturing to a crystal and beaded encrusted sweetheart strapless gown. “But I don’t like the bottom,” she said looking at the dresses lace layered bottom that reminded her of a Doilie. “This is just weird,” Tori proclaimed.
“You like this top but what bottom do you like?” Mrs. Ambler asked.
Tori looked at another picture and said, “I like this one.” The bride pointed to a gown with a full skirt and a long train. Intricate embroidery with crystals and beads lined the bottom of the dress and the long train.
“So than I shall simply make you the combination of both dresses,” The pale blonde woman told her.
“There isn’t time,” Tori told her. “Thank you though. I’ll just…”
“Nonsense!” Mrs. Ambler said swishing her hand at her. “This is a very important wedding. I will only be working on your gown. I will have it done on schedule,” she announced. “A woman should have the gown of her dreams on her wedding day. You may not have had the first time but you will have it the correct time,” She announced. “Now I need your measurements.”
Before Tori could agree or disagree the woman had pulled her up and measured her in the blink of an eye. “Now consider this done. Brides made dresses?” she asked.
“Burgundy. I like these to best,” she said pointing to a strapless gown that was shorter in the front and had a train flowing behind it.
“Those are beautiful!” Maylene said openly delighted. “That’ll look good on me,” she added a moment later. Tori laughed and nodded.
“Well then I believe we are finished,” the seamstress told them. “I must say so far you are one of the easiest brides I’ve ever worked with.”
“I just gave you a ton of work,” Tori reminded her.
“Perhaps but you also told me exactly what you wanted. Brides are often so scatter brained they don’t know,” Mrs. Ambler replied. “You knew the moment I showed you the options for men which one you wanted to see Prince Lucas in. The pictures will be spectacular!” She declared standing up. “I must get to work.”
“Thank you Mrs. Ambler,” Tori said.
“My pleasure my lady, princess.” The woman gave a curtsy and left their presence.
Maylene waited until the woman was gone and then said, “She’s right you know. You know what you want better than most brides.” Tori gave an unconcerned shrug and got up from the table. “Is it true?” The High Princess asked watching her.
“Is what true?” Tori asked.
“Did River take complete control of the wedding?” Maylene asked. “A little birdie told me he changed everything including your dress.”
The blonde woman gave a mild shrug. “Doesn’t really matter now.” Tori headed for the door and was about to open it when she felt Maylene’s hand on her shoulder. “It’s okay Maylene.”
“Did you want to marry him?”
“River was different after we left here,” Tori admitted. “I thought it was okay and everything was going to be great after the wedding. It wasn’t.”
