Chapter 6
(He fought for you)
It was just before 9 am when Lucas and Tori arrived in their suite at Embassy suites along with Athena. Tori had wanted to keep the dog with her but had accepted the dog wouldn’t be allowed. Lucas had started to get into the car at the castle and upon noticing the malamute wasn’t there had abruptly walked away before returning a few minutes later with the white dog.
They entered their suite and Lucas took the room to the right; leaving the room on the left for a Tori. Unlike most people Tori naturally went left. At first the High Prince had thought she was left handed when they’d first met. It hadn’t taken him long to understand she simply liked to do things differently than others.
“Thank you,” Lucas said and tipped the bellhop after he’d placed their bags in their rooms.
“Yes sir,” The light brown haired man replied. “If you need anything else please don’t hesitate.” Lucas nodded and the bellhop left closing the door behind him.
Calmly the High Prince walked over and pulled the drapes open before peering down at the pond below. He had to admit it was a nice view. “Did you get a hold of your father?” He asked sensing Tori enter the room.
“Yeah,” she said quietly. “He’s coming over now.”
“Good.” Slowly he turned and looked at the woman who seemed unsure of what to do or how to act. He watched as her eyes fell to the ground. Calmly he walked over to the blonde woman and gently cupped her chin and raised it to look at him. “The only thing you need to focus on is your family and his,” Lucas assured her.
“Technically…”
“As long as we adhere to the stipulations nothing else matters,” he said releasing her. “We share the suite we stay within their….I’m not going to carry a tape measure around with me and ensure we stay no further away than fifteen feet are you?”
He watched as a smile crossed her face at how ridiculous the space stipulation was. “How do we know they won’t show up with one?” she retorted.
Lucas started to make a smart comment back but stopped himself. Gently he took both her hands in his. “This isn’t going to be easy for any of us,” He told her. “I would have let you have all the space in the world. We’ll just do the best that we can. I don’t think they’ll go berserk over a couple of extra feet.” Tori raised her eyebrow at him.
“Work with me here,” He told her sounding every bit like she would when she said the same phrase.
“Thank you,” Tori said and hugged him. “I appreciate you being so…understanding.”
The blonde prince smiled at her. “I’ll do everything I can to help you Tori. We will find who is responsible one way or another. No matter how long it takes we won’t give up.” Tori nodded and for a moment felt a sense of peace.
Hearing the door Lucas released the newly widowed wolf and walking over to the door opened it without a second thought. Unfortunately what he found was three less than pleased enforcers looking at him along with two men he didn’t know.
“What’s wrong?” Lucas asked becoming concerned.
“For starters you didn’t even ask who it was,” Ryker scolded.
Lucas let out a silent sigh. They had him there. “Come on in.” He left the door opened and walked back into the suite’s living room where Tori stood waiting.
“Hi Daddy,” Tori said and walking over embraced her father.
“Hi Angel,” he replied and hugged her. Releasing her he looked at the High Prince. “Don’t do that again,” he ordered. Lucas looked at him a little surprised. “We all agree there are things happening that don’t make sense. Don’t take unnecessary chances.”
