"A real mission? You're so lucky!" Garma was sitting on the floor next to the pallet in Krani's room. "And, I think you're bonding with Master Hudsh. I bet after this mission he'll take you as his Padawan."
Krani grinned. "Garma, there's no way to know for sure. At least, until it happens."
The boy's grey eyes sparkled. "Just you wait and see-" He reached out with a leg directly in front of the pacing girl. As she stumbled, he used the Force to push her over, then he grinned smugly at her. "And pay attention to your surroundings."
"You sneak!" Krani growled playfully, launching herself at her companion. The two scuffled together for several minutes, eventually calling a truce. "Garma, I'm going to miss you when I'm gone. "
He rolled onto his back. "I'll miss you too. I won't have anyone to tease."
"I'm sure you'll find someone to bother."
"But I don't want to tell secrets to anybody else."
"So save 'em. I'm sure I'll have secrets and stories to tell you!" Garma sighed and for a few moments, neither spoke. Then the silvery-blond boy propped himself up. "Krani, be careful. I want you to come back in one piece. " His tone was deadly serious.
"I'll be careful. But I'm going to lose our competition because I won't be able to study."
Garma grinned lopsidedly. "I'd rather go on a mission."
Just then, Krani's comlink chimed. She sat up and answered. Joel's voice came through.
"Krani, we're nearly ready. Can you be here in 15 minutes?"
"Yes, sir." She tried to keep the waver out of her voice.
"I'll see you then."
After a short pause, she turned to Garma. "I should go."
"I'll go with you." He quickly volunteered. Krani grinned at him as she stood up and picked up her things.
