For the next few days, Astrid and Hiccup spent more and more time with each other. With the excuse of the school project. Both of them wanted to pass this project and even get a good grade for it, so their eyes were constantly on the work. Hiccup occasionally strayed off-topic to get to know Astrid but she would always bring it back to the work. She was one secretive girl, it intrigued Hiccup in a way he couldn't describe.
One day Astrid went to the library early. She walked into the deserted room and noticed it being quieter than normal, but not because of the lack of people. Astrid shrugged off the feeling and went to her usual corner of the room. The corner Hiccup kept on insisting to call his 'make out' corner. Not that she'd ever seen him here with any girls. Besides, she'd always loved coming here, especially when she needed to get away from her friends or anyone else for that matter. However, when she arrived that day, she saw a familiar figure sat on the couch in a nice relaxed position with his head in a book.
"If you look any closer at that book you might find yourself stuck there, Kristoff." Astrid said as she folded her arms, not moving from her position by the bookshelves that surrounded the corner. Kristoff looked up from the book with a smirk.
"Ah! There you are." Kristoff moved over and patted the space beside him. Astrid smiled, ignoring the dust cloud that was admitted from the couch when he patted it, and sat down whilst shrugging her bag off of her shoulders. She slumped onto the seat and let out a heavy sigh.
"What you doing here?"Astrid asked whilst trying to read what book he held. But Kristoff closed the book and quickly stashed it away before she could see.
"Needed some alone time. Is that a sin, miss?" He teased whilst poking her cheek. Astrid swatted his hand away.
"Stop it, no. I was just wondering." Kristoff just rolled his eyes as Astrid grabbed some books from her bag. "So how's your project going? With Anna?" Astrid asked, lengthening the word Anna as if exaggerating it. She saw Kristoff's face blushing hard as she mentioned Anna's name.
"Fine, fine. We're doing osmosis. You?" Astrid took out her book but dropped a piece of paper that contained a drawing Hiccup had done of her. Before she could hide it, Kristoff grabbed it out of the air and looked at it. "Now this doesn't look like work. What have you two been doing then?"
Astrid sighed as she told Kristoff what happened, and how that drawing came into her possession:
Hiccup and Astrid were in the library, sat in the dark corner, being it's only occupants. Astrid was busy watching Hiccup draw out another DNA strand. He was really good. She watched his features that exposed as he drew. She watched a sliver of his tongue stuck out as he concentrated on the drawing in front of him. She saw how his pencil seemed to dance on the page as he majestically sketched onto the page. Hiccup looked up and saw Astrid peering at his face.
"See something you like?" Hiccup joked causing Astrid to blush. She instantly looked away in embarrassment.
"Yeah, your drawing." She replied. Hiccup smiled at her red cheeks. "You're really good you know." Hiccup nodded, concentrating back on the drawing.
"I know."
"And apparently arrogant." Astrid huffed at his snarky reply.
"What about: 'self-centered, sexy and laughable'? Would those best describe me?" Astrid looked taken aback at his words. How did he know..? She just shook her head and decided to ignore it.
"Anyway, what else can you draw?" Astrid asked, getting back to her original thought. Hiccup chuckled at her avoidance of the awkward situation he had created.
