Eric gripped my arm tightly and marched me towards the door. I stumbled along beside him, chewing on the skin on my bottom lip.

I was still fuming about Calvin, but I was also intrigued as to how I had pissed off Eric whilst releasing my own rage.

"Where are we going?" I questioned as he led me down one of Dauntless' many dark hallways, leaving the chatter of the dining hall behind.

He didn't answer, so I pursed my lips and continued to allow him to lead me wherever.

We reached a narrow set of stairs, and he pushed me in front of him.

"Walk." He ordered, gesturing up the stairs.

I very nearly questioned it, and made a sarcastic comment about not wanting to go first, but the deadly expression on his face had my mouth snap shut and my legs hurriedly move up the stairs.

It was a spiral stair case, and the metal steps made a lot of noise as the two of us made our way up.

For the first time in what felt like forever, I saw daylight as we reached the top. I blinked a few times, allowing my eyes to adjust to the sudden brightness as Eric brushed past me and walked out of the large square door in front of us.

I slowly followed him, and we only walked a few metres before he stopped. My eyes explored my surroundings, and it became clear that I was at some kind of station. The tracks in front of us suggested that it was a train station.

"What was that?" Eric questioned, his voice strangely quiet.

"What?"

"You know exactly what." He growled.

"I defended you because Calvin was being an asshole."

I watched as his jaw clenched tightly shut.

"It's not your place to defend me."

"Well it is when he's insulting my intelligence at the same time!" I replied, looking at him in disbelief.

The horn of the train echoed through our surroundings, and Eric leaned forwards to look for it.

"The train will slow down a bit, but not completely stop. You'll have to be prepared." He informed me.

"What if I don't want to come on a train ride?"

"You'll do as you're told, and I'm telling you to get on this damn train." Eric ordered, and I almost shrunk under his glare.

"Fine." I grumbled and rolled my eyes, feigning some confidence.

The clacking of the train on the tracks filled my ears, and I glanced to my left to see it quickly approaching. It was definitely much slower than when I'd seen it before, but the fact that it would still move made me a little anxious, just like every time I got on it.

Eric started to walk to the end of the platform, and I followed. As the train breezed past, he reached out an arm and grabbed a hold of the handle. I watched as he pulled himself up, then sped my walk up into a jog. I grabbed the handle as quick as I could, and yanked myself up into the car through the last door.

I stumbled as my feet hit the surface of the car and fell into Eric again, internally wanting to hit myself for being so clumsy.

"Have you been drinking?" He questioned.

I pulled myself away from him and leaned back against the wall of the car. "Maybe. Does it matter?"

"How much?"

"Just a few cocktails." I think that was what Mel had called them.

"A few?"

"Yeah."
