Four woke us up just a few hours later at seven o'clock and as soon as I sat up, I was hit with a wave of nausea. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes for a moment... Today was the day, and I was sick with nerves.
"I'll be expecting you all in the dining hall by eight. Final test's start at half past, but we'll be arriving at quarter past." Four spoke, and I opened my eyes to look at him.
He nodded once at us, then turned and left.
"This is it... last day as initiates." Talulah said, and climbed out of bed. "Are you nervous?"
"A little... but I'm kind of looking forwards to it." Freddie replied to her question, and I turned to look at my three friends.
"I'm dreading it. The leaders will be able to see everything!" Nathan pulled a face.
"Mm, that is the bad part about it," Talulah shrugged. "but at least by this time tomorrow we'll be official members of Dauntless."
Freddie whooped, and Talulah giggled.
"You're quiet, Jac." Nathan observed, and the three of them turned to me.
"I'm not feeling too good." I honestly replied. "I'm really nervous, and really tired."
Talulah smiled. "It'll be alright, you'll do fine in your test."
I shrugged and returned the smile.
"How can you still be tired? You went to bed before the rest of us!" Freddie asked.
"I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't get back to sleep.. I was fussing about today." It wasn't a complete lie, I had been worrying about the occurring events.
"Oh.. that sucks."
I nodded and brushed my hair out of my face. "Yeah, but oh well." I shrugged.
Talulah frowned, and her look caught me off guard. What was wrong? Her eyes focused on my wrist, and as I put my hand back down onto my lap, I glanced down at it.
Oh. I'd never given Eric his watch back. My eyes widened slightly and I quickly slid my arm under my sheets. How would I explain this one?
Luckily, Talulah didn't question it in front of the guys, and I'd almost forgotten about it until she brought it up at breakfast.
We'd sat at a table with the Dauntless-born initiates, and their current topic of conversation was my argument last night. I hesitantly answered all of their questions, feeling slightly embarrassed about my behaviour last night.
"I'm really surprised that you didn't manage to hit him." Dale pointed out.
"I don't think she'd have been able to, Zeke and Four were pulling her back pretty hard!" Luke stated.
"I'm not too sure, she did throw herself across that table really quickly..."
"Who were you even arguing about?" Leigh questioned.
"Who do you think?" Kendall shot back sarcastically.
"Well I don't know, that's why I'm asking her." Leigh muttered, giving Kendall a filthy look.
"Who dragged her out of the room?"
"Eric?"
"Yeah, so there you go!"
"Wait, they were arguing about Eric?" Leigh pulled a face then looked at me. "Is that right?"
I shrugged, unsure of what to say.
