----

I waited eagerly in front of Kirstie’s locker for her to show up. I hadn’t had the chance to tell her how I hung out with Scott the day before and I was more than anxious to get it off of my chest. I knew she would gush with me and then yell at me for having a crush on someone who was out of my league.

Finally, she walked in the building with Grace and Ally. She jumped up and down when she saw me waiting for her and jumped into my arms.

“Hey, pretty!” Grace greeted me, giving me a squeeze. She wore six inch heels with black leather leggings and a studded tank top. Ally hugged me last. She looked adorable in a flowery pink dress and flats.

Kirstie held my hand. She wore my old choir sweatshirt and shorts with flip flops. “You look so excited!” She smiled up at me.

I nodded, but I didn’t want to blab to the group. “Yeah, I’m in a good mood.” I fished, and she narrowed her eyes happily at me.

“If Keith comes near you I’ll kill him.” Grace said, smiling wickedly at me.

“Thanks, Gracie.” I whispered. First bell rang just then, and I walked hand in hand with Ally to class with Grace following behind us.

I searched the hallways for Scott, but I had no luck.

---

First period, history, was boring as ever. I sat in my normal seat between Grace and Ally, wiggling my pencil between my thumb and my index finger. Suddenly, I little piece of folded paper landed on my desk. I looked over to Ally and she pointed to it and nodded.

I unfolded the paper and read it.

Jamie likes you.

I took a deep breath and picked up my pencil.

I know that. I’m not interested.

I saw her look at me out of the corner of my eye, and then she started writing.

Please just go out on 1 date with him!

I shook my head.

No!

I heard her audibly sigh.

Why???

I rolled my eyes.

Bc he’s a terrible kisser.

“Ew!” She said out loud when she opened the paper, and then shoved it in her desk as the teacher turned around and looked at the three of us. Grace was asleep on her book and Ally and I acted normal. The teacher sneered at us and then went back to teaching.

Ally took out a new piece of paper.

Please just 1 date!!!

I shot her a look and she smiled at me, so I crumpled up the paper and threw it at her. She laughed and threw it back, missing me and hitting Grace in the head. Grace woke up and threw her pencil at her.

“That’s it! GET OUT!” The teacher boomed.

---

As we walked out of the principal’s office with write-up slips, Grace did a dance. “Woo! I’ve gotten one of these every single day since the year started. I wonder if that’s a world record?”
