I sat at the edge of the pier with my legs crossed under me. It was late, probably about 11 now, and everyone was passed out. I couldn't sleep though. I was homesick as hell but I couldn't complain. I didn't want to ruin Scott a birthday because I missed my Mom...
The pier started moving and suddenly I heard footsteps behind me. I looked over to see Scott coming towards me, wobbling a bit from the alcohol and the rocking of the pier on the water. He finally reached me and sat down carefully next to me. "Hey there kiddo." He slurred.
I narrowed my eyes at him.
Kiddo? Are you kidding me?
"Hey there, old man." I said back.
He laughed and looked over at me. "Did you even drink?"
I just nodded and looked back out at the water. I looked back over at him after a couple of seconds and caught him looking sad. "Tonight was really fun!" I told him.
He smiled over at me. "Good, good..." He paused and looked down at his hands. "I wish we didn't have to go back on Sunday..." His eyes were truly sad. I didn't know what to say.
"Trust me, I wish we didn't either." My voice was higher than usual. I shut my eyes in embarrassment and wrapped my arms around my body, cupping my hands in the end of my sleeves.
He put his hand on my shoulder and I looked over at him. His face was perfect in the moonlight. I wanted to reach out and run my fingers down the side of his smooth face so bad my fingers shook.
"Let's go get some sleep?" He asked and took his hand off of my shoulder and extending it to take mine. I took it and he helped me stand up. We let go and I walked a few paces behind him as we headed towards the house. Inside the girls slept in the living room - Grace on the floor, Ally on the armchair, and Kirstie on the couch.
"Come on, I have a bed for you." Scott whispered to me. I followed him into the first bedroom we came across and he shut the door behind him. He turned on the light. There was a large double bed in the middle of the room with a raised mattress and a puffy comforter. I yawned at the sight and he laughed at me.
"Be quiet, I'm tired!" I laughed back and rubbed my eyes. Lightly.
He giggled and pointed to my overnight back in the corner of the room. "If you want to change go ahead. There's a bathroom through there." He pointed at the door next to my bag.
I reached into my bag for my pajama pants before he spoke again. "Is it okay if we share a bed? None of the other ones have any sheets or anything on them."
My eyes grew wide and I looked over at him. He hesitated. "I...I was going to give the girls the bed but they all passed out." He laughed nervously. "If you're uncomfortable I can sleep on the floor." He put his hands up defensively.
"I'm the gay one and you're worried about me being uncomfortable?" I laughed and then caught myself. "Oh wow, I just made that so much worse." I put a hand on my forehead and Scott laughed loudly. "I'm fine with it!" I said and shut the bathroom door.
Idiot!
I can't believe I'm going to share a bed with him...
Maybe he sleeps in the nuuuuude!
