Mitch’s POV

“Scott…” I whispered as he got up from my bed and threw the bag onto my dresser.

“You disappear for one fucking week and become a drug addict?!” He yelled. I got angry and stepped past him, taking the bag and shoving it into my pocket.

“I haven’t taken any!”

“You expect me to believe that?”

“Do I look strung out to you?!”

“Where the hell did you even get that, Mitch?!” He was yelling louder now, his arms out in front of him motioning to the bag.

“It’s none of your fucking business!” I yelled back.

He dropped his arms and just stared at me. He looked like he was studying me, and then his eyes fell sad. He crossed his arms over his chest and shook his head. “I can’t believe you…”

“You don’t know me as well as you think you do!”

He looked back up at me and swallowed hard. I just gazed back and leaned my body up against my bedroom wall. Things fell silent and he looked down at his shoes, shoving his hands into his pockets and taking time to think. “I’ll leave.” He said and started out the door.

“No…wait…” I stepped forward and grabbed his arm. “Let’s just talk…”

I got him to sit down on my bed and I sat across from him. He looked me dead in the eye. “You need to talk to someone.”

“What?”

He leaned over and pushed my sleeve up. I yelped and jumped up off of the bed, pulling my sleeve back over the bandaged part of my wrist. “What the FUCK?” I looked at him horrified.

“I saw it a couple of weeks ago when we were watching the storm.”

I didn’t know what to do. I wanted to run away, but I was home. I had nowhere to run to. “You…you didn’t say anything?” I held my wrist close to my body.

He shook his head and stood up. “You were happy…” He said, shrugging. “I didn’t want to ruin it…”

My eyes started tearing up and I clutched my wrist harder. “You didn’t tell anyone right?”

He shook his head no.

I sighed in relief. “Please don’t…”

“I won’t tell anyone,” His voice was soft now. He came towards me and put his hands on my shoulders. “But you need to get help…”

“I don’t want help.” I said. “I’m handling this.”

“Handling this?!” He said. “You have cocaine sitting on your dresser. Cuts on your wrists. Bruises probably still all over your body…I’m sorry but you’re not handling this!”

I hugged my body close. I was completely exposed and vulnerable and I didn’t like it one bit.

Scott’s POV

“Why don’t you think anyone can help you?” I asked him. He hugged his frail frame and looked down away from me.
