Chapter 9

Ana POV

I make it home as the kids are finishing dinner. Teddy and Hailey come running over to me because Derrick spent the day with me. Teddy and Hailey are full of questions, Teddy being older pushes to go first "Mommy Derrick says that the girl who came with Taylor is our sister...the one taken a long time ago. Is that true mommy"? I ruffle his hair "How would you feel if it's true"? Hailey jumps in "I would be excited having my twin back mama. I hope it's true, I feel like it is". I chuckle "Yes you two Parker is home, but we need to be patient with her, the family that she was with wasn't nice to her so we need to show her real families love each other most of the time... hmm what am I kidding you all will be picking on each other before the end of the week".

I walk over to the table and see Parker eating like there is no tomorrow. "Parker sweetie I am not saying you can't eat all you want, but trust me you eat too much it'll make you sick. Gail will make sure there is always food here for you honey. Just take it slow, mommy speaks from experience". Parker looks at me "Really mommy"? I sit next to her at the table. "Back when I had Teddy in my tummy, a bad man took mommy away from daddy. That man hurt mommy a lot, and didn't feed her a lot. So when mommy came home her tummy wanted to eat all the food she saw but when she did, it made her sick a lot. So grandma told me to eat a little bit at a time then when my tummy says it can handle more we eat a little more. It won't be long honey I promise". I kiss her forehead. "Now do we want to do do bath's tonight or tomorrow morning"? They all ponder and say "Tonight"! I sigh and thank goodness Elliot installed that tankless water heater. "Ok then how bout girls first then I will bath you boys after"? Everyone nods and we start for the stairs.

After bath's and getting ready for bed, all the kids join me in my bed and I read them a bedtime story. After Christian and Parker were taken I would gather the babies in bed with me and we'd read bedtime stories. I've kept the that going and it warms my heart. I pick up on the story we left off on, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. I don't believe in children's stories per se because literature is meant to be appreciated at any age but the darker stories like Poe, well that can wait until their teens. I read a chapter a night then kisses and bed. We finish the chapter and tonight I walk everyone to their rooms. Derrick is first because his room is closest to the master, then Hailey and Parker, Hailey talked her into sharing with her, Ava is next then Teddy his room still covered in planes and trains. He hesitates going into the room, "What's wrong baby"? Teddy looks at me "If dad is back how come we haven't seen him mom"? I sigh "The lady didn't get him looked at after the accident baby. He is a little sick and his brain isn't working right. But if you want, I can go see him tomorrow and see if he'd be up for seeing you guys. I know you miss him more than the others honey. You and dad bonded more because he took care of you for so long by himself. How about this, I will ask Gail to watch the others and you can come with me to the hospital to see him? Do it slowly so he doesn't get overwhelmed"? He looks at me and is excited "You promise mom"? "You know I don't usually promise but yes Teddy I promise". He hugs me and goes into his room to sleep.

The next day

Christian POV

After a night in the hospital I am getting restless to get out. Elliot stayed all night, talking about various things from the last few years. I learned that I am closer to my family than I was before, I allow Ana to touch me which for the longest time no one ever has. Not even mom, I bathed myself for the longest time, never wanting to feel the burn or the pain. I'm getting more flashes and feelings flooding inside of me. Flynn mentioned coming back later today to touch base and see where I'm at. I'm feeling more like myself, stronger not tired or having headaches anymore.  I just want to leave the hospital and try and figure out where I go to now from here.

Elliot left a little while ago to go to work, he said something about arranging time off with his crew leader and working from home for a while. He didn't elaborate thought on why, but I imagine it has to do with his angel Ava. He was telling a lot about her, showing me pictures of her and she is a beautiful combination of Kate and Elliot. Elliot had mentioned that Ana would be coming to keep me company later, since she isn't working today. I hope she comes because so many feelings came up when she was here. They moved me to an actual room last night and gave me broth and Jell-O for dinner, wasn't what I would have wanted but they didn't want me to be sick. I tried watching TV, but there was nothing of interest on so I asked a nurse to bring me newspapers and business magazines.
