Chapter 16

Ana POV

The past week has been interesting to say the least. With Christian and Parker here we have been adjusting very well. Everything seems like it's falling into place. Dad got Christian's license reinstated as well as his social security number back under his name. Christian has decided to leave the accounts and businesses in my name for a while, he said there's no need to change anything. He has been looking over accounts and businesses that have been acquired since and he is pleasantly surprised at how things ran in his absence. I had Welch put Christian on the accounts because if I'm not here he needs access the accounts. Over the week I've been preparing for surgery, mentally because I don't think I'll ever be ready.

Mom was doing research for the kids to be active over the summer. Since her mantra has always been language martial arts and instrument mom has found a martial arts summer camp for the next 6 weeks. They got the week I go into the hospital for surgery and will be back long after I get home.  All the kids including Ava, don't know how mom worked that, are going to the camp. Mom did say she didn't tell Kate where the camp was or what kind of camp it was....because of Christian being back and no one really knowing yet she thought some anonymity was in order. Now we are not hiding him returning, just waiting until I'm back on my feet again and do it properly.

Since the the afternoon when I came back from the gym, Christian has really been pursuing me trying to seduce me. It has been amazing but I'm holding off until I can get some sort of birth control in place. I can't have another child just after having surgery. It'd mess up the hip replacement plus the pain meds I have to be on, could cause birth defects. But damn if I haven't been tempted to just give in. The last couple of nights he has come to sleep in my room, holding me falling asleep so peacefully. There are times I wake up and just look at him sleeping and think how young and peaceful he looks. This morning I manage to wiggle out of his arms so I can go make breakfast for everyone.

It's a weekday but so what. I can do something amazing for my family. I enter the kitchen and see Gail getting ready to start breakfast. "Gail I'm gonna make breakfast this morning. I forget though did the kids enjoy hollandaise or not"? She chuckles "I can't speak for Parker but the kids are that stuff up. Thinking of poaching eggs and making hollandaise"? I smirk "That's not all, I'm going to make pancakes with bacon and hash browns, and a couple of omelets because I don't remember if Christian likes poached eggs or Elliot for that matter". She sighs "Then I'll stick around to help. That is a lot, even for me. So how about you do the omelets bacon and hash browns and I'll poach the eggs and make the hollandaise because you have to watch it or the sauce will break". I nod and begin dicing tomatoes onions grating cheese and cubing ham. Enough for 2 omelets as I begin making bacon. I make almost 3 lbs of bacon because the children take after their mother and love the swine. I cheated a bit and get pre shredded hash browns 2 packages and get those ready for after the bacon is done. Gail makes enough eggs for 3 a person and I told her to make enough for her and Taylor. I place the bacon in the oven to stay warm, I start the hash browns and omelets at the same time.

As I am finishing up, I see the little monsters start to come down. "Gail that smells good. What's for breakfast"? I look at Derrick and reply "Eggs bacon hash browns pancakes and hollandaise sauce". Derrick looks at me "Mom you made breakfast for us"? "Derrick you know I love to cook. Decided since my babies were leaving for a few weeks I'd make something for you to remember me by". He runs over to hug me and then to wake up his siblings. I chuckle "I expect Elliot and the others to be thorughly awoken within 5 minutes".  Gail chuckles also but agrees. Derrick comes running back down in a panic. "Mom I went to dad's room and he wasn't there. Did he get losted again"? I sigh "No baby he's here, he had a bad dream and stayed with mommy last night. He probably still asleep". He nods and runs towards my room. "Bad dream huh"?  I look at Gail "I dunno anymore. He says he has a hard time sleeping away from me. I have to admit I sleep better with him there". She chuckles "So should I be getting another nursery ready"? I blush furiously "No Gail nothing like that has happened for that reason. Geez know how to embarrass a girl". She laughs at me "Can't blame a girl now can you"? I shake my head as the last of breakfast is finished. Gail and I plate everything on serving plates and set the table. By the time we're done everyone is coming towards the table in various stages of alertness.
