Chapter 1 Evan Fong
"Get back here you fucking Bitch," a gruff voice called out as a young sixteen year old ducked into the crowd.
He was glad that he wasn't as tall as most men were; barely reaching 5'8. He knew he would get taller when he grows but he's fine with his height now. He knew his way around these streets as he grew up here. The alley ways were the perfect place to hide from someone who was chasing you. It was a maze and if you didn't know your way around then you would be lost for a while. Quickly making his way in the alley, he snickered when he heard the shop owner growl out in frustration.
Quickly unzipping his jacket he took out several items he had taken from the store. Some of it was just food knowing that his dead beat mother would never cook anything for him. But what really made that Shop owner ticked off was when he went behind the counter and stole some cigarettes with a fake gun. It was a harmless prank and he took it way too seriously.
"Hey yo Evan got the goods," a voiced called out to him making Evan smile.
"You know I do Kalem," Evan said tossing a pack of cigs to Kalem.
"You got the good kind fuck yeah," Kalem said taking out a lighter and opening up the box.
"You know it ain't for free," Evan said holding out his hand.
"Yeah yeah Richie give Evan the money," Kalem said and Richie had given Evan a 50.
"I gotta split," Evan said realizing what time was it.
"Not staying to enjoy a fresh one Fong," a boy name Liam asked.
"Nah gotta fucking making it home before the bitch notices," Evan said leaving the hangout.
The bitch was the person who gave birth to him. The whore who had let her life go to shit when his fucking dill weed of a father decided to come and go whenever he pleased. He doesn't even remember his childhood. Anything before the age of 6 was a blur to him. Like whatever happened then he wanted to forget which was fine with him. If it was bad as his life was now he rather forget then remember.
He had a younger brother named Nathan who was the world to him. He would do anything to protect his younger brother from danger. Even if it means he has to put his own life at risk. The cool breeze hit his face as the stars shined brightly above. Evan really did love whenever it became winter. It meant that shop owners could keep track of everything as Christmas shopping took over. Whatever he stole he would make some quick cash because people were desperate on getting gifts.
His favorite thing to do was pretend to be a homeless child on the street and beg people for cash. Those suckers would give him money which he would spend on himself. Quickly seeing the rundown of a place that he called home. He entered through the front and was hit with the stench of dirty laundry. His mother never did anything for him mostly focusing on Nathan whenever she remembered he was there.
Evan went to the room he shared with Nathan and tossed his bag towards his side.
"Hey Nate you awake," Evan said as he came inside.
"Of course silly it's only like 8 pm," Nathan said as he got up from the bed.
There was only one bed to the room and Evan refused to use it. Mostly using a blanket and a pillow as his bed.
"Here you go," Evan said tossing him a bag of chips.
"You didn't steal this did you," Nathan asked and Evan didn't say anything.
"I told you to stop stealing things," Nathan scolded making Evan roll his eyes.
"I'll stop stealing once mom cleans up her act," Evan said.
"Thank you anyways Evan," Nathan said eating the bag of chips.
"No problem," Evan said as he started to pack some things.
"You aren't heading out again are you," Nathan asked as Evan finished packing his things.
"You know how it goes Nate," Evan said.
"Be safe," Nathan said when Evan left through the window.
Evan couldn't help but chuckle at the thought. Since when has he ever had been safe.
Welcome to the official sequel to The Struggles of a Single Father. This has been planned long before I had even started the first book. This is something I just wanted to do and I know I'll have fun doing it.
