Chapter 20 Mistakes Fixed
Evan sat silently in Dially's couch. He hasn't said a word to her as she wrapped him up in a towel. She had mentioned that the guys clothes were here if he wanted to get out of his wet clothes. He hadn't a made a move to go so she said she was going to make some hot chocolate. Evan looked towards the door debating if he should just leave quickly and not looking back.
He was shivering from his clothes as the water had cooled down. He moved his eye sight to the blonde in the kitchen. He knew he should have ran away from her when she found him but she had an aura that made him feel safe. Like she would protect him and she proved that by telling Jon that she hadn't seen him. He made a move to get up and turned towards the direction Dially had mentioned there was some spare clothes.
He found a plain white T-shirt, black sweats, fresh underwear, and some warm socks. He quickly changed out of his wet clothes putting on the clean fresh ones. He grabbed a blanket from the closet and wrapped it around himself. He walked back over to the couch and then sat down.
"Here you go sweetie," Dially said as she handed him the cup.
"Thank you," Evan mumbles holding the cup close to him.
"So tell me why were you running out in the rain," Dially said.
"I...," Evan started but trailed off.
"Start from the beginning," she said.
"Me and Tyler were cuddling on the bed," Evan said with a blush on his face.
"Then... Jonathan came in to tell Tyler that his dad was here to pick him up," Evan continued.
"He then told me that he was looking into adoption and I ran," Evan said.
"Why did you run," Dially asked.
"Because Jon was gonna replace me with another kid. He has no reason in keeping me probably gonna send me off to the agency when he gets em," Evan said placing his cup on the table sadness washing over him once again.
"Oh sweetie do you think he wanted to keep you both," She said.
"No because why would he want some teenage dirtbag; who's trying to get over a drug addiction who causes nothing but trouble. My parent didn't even want me so why should he," Evan admitted making his eyes widen.
"Oh Nate," Dially said pulling him into a hug.
Evan was still in shock that he admitted that so openly. He blinked a couple of times feeling tears roll down his cheeks. He hugged back burying his face into Dially's shoulder. He let out a sob as he broke down into her arms. She was so patient with him letting him cry on her until he couldn't. When he finally stopped she pulled away from him.
"Nate from the time we got to know you it feels like we had watched you grown up. Jonathan has told me he doesn't regret saving your life. He feels like you're the son he had lost so long ago," Dially said.
"So I'm just a replacement," Evan mumbled.
"You're more then a replacement Nate you're one of a kind; you've had a terrible life but now we welcome you to ours and we hope you'll stay for as long as possible," she said.
"I should have just listened to what he had to say," Evan said.
"Yeah you should of," Jonathan said as he came inside.
"You texted him," Evan whispered to her.
"Let him explain everything, he's all yours Jon," she said leaving towards her room.
"You made me had a heart attack you know," Jonathan joked as he sat next to Evan.
"Sorry," Evan mumbled.
"Listen kid I wouldn't trade you for the world okay I will say that until I get it in your head," Jonathan said.
"Secondly I was approved into adopting. I was robbed the chance in raising a child so I want a second chance. I won't get rid of you but get used to the idea of a little brother or sister," Jonathan said.
"I had a brother so it won't be no problem," Evan said.
"I can only assume they were taken away from your parents," Jonathan said making Evan flinch.
"Right on the dot," Evan mumbled.
"Then there's a chance I might be available to adopt him. I won't get to know until the interview but who knows," Jonathan said.
"But just to let you know even though I'm getting another kid you still will be able to live with me. Now let's go home," Jonathan said and Evan nodded.
Evan was glad that he wasn't going to be replaced. He only wished that Tyler hadn't punched him so hard when he had heard about it.
Huh I've been updating a lot recently. Just this flow of ideas is coming to me. Watch it crash and burn with the next update lmao
With lots of love 💛
