Chapter 18 Cut it out
Evan got out of bed as he heard a knock on his door. Knowing it was Jonathan telling him it was time for school he got himself ready for the day. Today was his birthday and he knows hardly anyone knows. The question was never brought up and he was fine with anyone not knowing. Of course if someone asked he would tell them. Getting dropped off at School he raised his eyebrow at Tyler who had his hands behind his back.
"What's up with you," Evan asked as Tyler showed him a neatly wrapped gift.
"It's for you Happy Birthday idiot," Tyler said placing a kiss on his lips.
"How did you know it was my birthday," Evan said grabbing hold of the gift.
"I saw your school ID they put your birthday on it idiot," Tyler said as they headed inside.
"You're the first person to say it," Evan said as they headed towards their hangout.
"Really? Uncle Jon didn't say anything," Tyler said.
"Obviously I didn't tell him anything personal," Evan said when he was glomped.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY EVAN," Craig screamed as he nearly knocked Evan over.
"Ugh emotions," Evan said as Tyler pulled Craig off.
"Happy Birthday Evan," Brian and Brock said when they got to him.
"We have presents come on," Craig said excitedly as he grabbed Evan's hand and dragged him towards the tree.
"You guys really didn't have to," Evan said as he saw the gifts.
"It's because we want too now shut up," Brian said as he handed him his.
"I don't know what to say," Evan said smiling at everyone.
"Of all the kid I had to fucking keep it would be the one who shares the same birthday as him," Jonathan grumbles as he and Luke got party supplies.
"Come on Jon it has to be a sign," Luke said.
"A sign for what," Jon replied.
"I don't know maybe get another kid," Luke said.
"I mean I've been preparing for the adoption agency to visit to see if I'm qualified but I still don't know," Jonathan said.
"See moving towards the right step now all you need now is a girl," Luke said.
"Shut the fuck up," Jonathan said punching him in the arm.
Evan got several things from his friends. He got a best friends forever T-shirt from Craig, which probably will go in the closet, a watch from Brock, some headphones from Brian, and lastly the new Spider-Man game from Tyler. The rest of the day was pretty normal. He ditched school, went to the arcade, showed everyone how to get free tokens, Tyler smacking him for showing it, kissing a bit, pretty normal for him.
"Ayo kids I'm you're ride," Luke called out when he saw them come from school.
"Hey Luke," Evan said as he got in the back seat with Craig, Brock, and Brian.
"Alright were all going to staying at Uncle Jon's for a bit. You're parents are gonna pick you up from there," Luke said as he headed there.
"Do we have to stay too dad," Tyler whined.
"Yeah I'm helping him with something," Luke said making Tyler groan.
When they got there Evan quickly got out of the car and headed straight for the door. Unlocking it, he opened up to
"SURPRISE!"
"I know karate," Evan yelled out in shock.
"Happy Birthday kiddo," Jonathan said to Evan making him pout.
"Hey I'm not your kid," Evan said slightly wishing it wasn't true.
"Get inside goofball," Jonathan said rolling his eyes.
Evan saw everyone's parents were here. There was a banner hanging saying Happy Birthday Nate and he wished it said his actual name.
"Happy Birthday Nate," Dially said hugging him.
"Thanks," Evan said hugging back.
He really didn't expect a party. He absolutely didn't expect the party. Tears started to fall from his eyes as everything hit him since his last birthday. To living a life in a gang, to getting shot, then being slightly adopted into this crazy family, and then finding out the love of his life. His life was a roller coaster.
Jonathan hugged him and Evan hugged him back. But he's glad that it was.
