Chapter 19 Over this

"It feels good waking up late," Evan mumbled as he cuddled with his pillow.

"It feels good just to do nothing," his pillow said.

It was the beginning of summer break for everyone who went to school. Tyler had slept over with the promise they wouldn't do anything dirty. So with an embarrassed Evan he had dragged Tyler towards the bed and they played games with each other. They stayed up til 3 and woke up at 1 pm. It was the best way to start their summer. Tyler grabbed his phone and looked at the notifications.

"Love meeee," Evan whined.

"I aaam dummy I just need to check my phone," Tyler said flicking Evan.

"Did you just flick me," Evan said shocked.

"I did now shut up," Tyler said hugging Evan to his chest.

"Curse you and your tallness," Evan mumbled snuggling in.

"Have you guys just been in bed all day," Jonathan said when he entered their room.

"Nuh uh we got food," Evan said.

"And we used the bathroom we aren't pigs Uncle Jon," Tyler said.

"Could have fooled me," Jonathan mumbled.

"Either way your dad's here apparently you're supposed to go and buy a gift for Brock," Jonathan said.

"Ughhhhhhhh alright see ya Nate bye Uncle Jon," Tyler said.

Hearing Tyler say Nate feels wrong to Evan. But he doesn't want anyone else to know yet. He's not ready for that rollercoaster of memories yet.

"Now that I have you alone I have to tell you something," Jonathan said making Evan stiffen.

"What is it," Evan asked feeling a bit nervous.

"I've been in the process of adoption. I just been approved by the adoption agency and I'm just waiting to hear back from them," he said.

"So you're kicking me out. I knew this was too good to be true," Evan said feeling betrayed.

Jon was about to say something else but Evan quickly ran out of the house. Of course what was supposed to be a sunny day was a down pour of rain soaking Evan completely. Evan didn't stop running. He just ran forward until he couldn't anymore. He collapsed on the sidewalk breathing heavily. Sweat was mixing in with the rain as he tried to get his breath back. But when the rain stopped he looked up to see somebody with an umbrella.

"Nate are you alright," Dially voice said softly to him.

Evan stares up at her with tears rolling down his cheeks. She didn't say anything but just waited patiently for him. He couldn't think of anything to say. He wanted to lie to her saying he was going for a quick run but he knew that would be a complete lie. Suddenly her phone rang and she answered it.

"Hey Jon," she said making Evan's eyes widen.

"Have I seen Nate," she said and looked down at him.

He looked up at her pleading for her to lie. He wasn't ready to go back there to pack his stuff. He would just run away and never look back, maybe even find his brother Nathan while he was at it. She frowned and said;

"No I haven't"

Evan was so grateful that she had lied to him. He wanted to go over to her and hug her but decided against it. He was debating whether or not should he book it from her while he had the chance. He thought back to Jon and frowned. He knew it was too good to be true. He was just some random teen off the street; why should Jon waste any more of his time on him. He tuned out the rest of her conversation and came to when she touched his shoulder.

"You have a lot of explaining to do," She said as Evan blinked a couple of times.

"Is it to late to say that I'm going for a run," he said.

"Come on we'll go to my place," She mumbled as she led him to her car.

Sorry for the short chapter. I don't have anything to say for my absence. Hopefully not a long time before the next update though

With lots of love 💛
