My brain won't allow me to sleep. I wake every few minutes. My curiousity grows like its on steroids. Finally my alarm goes off. I get out of my bed and pick out my outfit. A maroon dress that goes to my knees. My hair is short and there is nothing I can do about it. I just brush it and call it good. I put on my sandals and grab my bag. I go downstairs and enter the kitchen. My mom smiles and we go in the car. I put in my headphones and play music from my playlist. I put it on shuffle and the first song that comes on is Never Give Up by Sia. Few moments later we arrive at the high school, Grant Vill High. I grab my bag and my mom holds my hand before I leave.
"Hey. I love you, have a great first day. I will pick you up after school." She says.
"I love you too." I say and we hug. I leave and walk a few steps. All of the students all over the place. Girls and guys holding hands and others are reading or glued to their phones. I walk slowly and try to absorb high school and all of its aspects. Then a girl approaches me.
"Hi are you April?" The girl asks.
"Umm...yes." I say nervously. Which is odd I normally am not this nervous.
"I'm Callie. Nice to meet you. Oh where are my manners, I am apart of the welcoming committee. I have the same schedule as you so I figured why not introduce myself and help you when you need it." She says.
"Thank you. I actually got a full tour of the school but thank you. It's nice to have a friendly acquaintance." I say with a smile.
"Have you gone to this school before?" She asks as we walk together.
"No. I was homeschooled." I say.
"If you don't mind may I ask why you are now in public school?" She asks politely.
"I...." I was freaking out. I didn't know what to say.
"You don't have too." She says.
"Okay.." I say. Dogged a bullet.
"Well I hope we can be friends." She says.
"Me too." I say.
