My heart pounds harder with each step up to the stage. I can't believe I am doing this. Singing infront of millions of people.
"Hello, whats your name?" Simon asks.
"April Matthews." I say.
"And how old are you?" He asks.
"I am sixteen years old." I say.
"And what will you be performing for us today?" He asks.
"I will be performing Fight Song. It has helped me get through my cancer journey. And still does." I say.
"So you have cancer still?" He asks.
"Yes I have had camcer since I was little and as soon as I heard this song on the radio it inspired me to keep fighting." I say.
"Well good luck." He says.
"Thank you." I continue to sing. The nerves eventually faded away. As I look at the judges they are all smiling and the girls have tears running down their faces. Simon shows little emotion but at the end I managed to break him.
"Can I just say....that was absolutely amazing. As soon as you walked on stage I had a great feeling about you. And your story is truly amazing. Most contestants pick random songs because it's their favorite but yours meant something special to you. And that is why I am about to do something that I believe the rest of the judges at this table could agree with." He leans over and presses the gold button. My heart drops. I start crying. Callie and my parents run up to hug me as they are crying too. I can't believe I did it!
