Remember the Pep Rally scene from A Cinderella Story with Hilary Duff? I'm gonna do the same thing, but it's going to be a twist.
Creek: And who may you ask is this imposter? Give it up for the pretend Prince, Diner Boy, Branch Timberlake!
The students went crazy as soon as Creek called out Branch. They started laughing & calling him "Diner Boy" over & over again. Branch tried to hard not to let a tear fall out of his eyes. Poppy felt really bad for him, because she really cared. Branch was her first friend growing up. She couldn't take it anymore, she stood on her chair before Branch could leave.
Poppy: EVERYONE, SHUT UP!
The shout made the whole crowd go quiet, causing Branch to stop. They could all see that Poppy wasn't happy about this. She faced Creek, who was also shocked by Poppy's outburst.
Poppy: Creek, what are you trying to prove?
Creek: I'm trying to prove to you that this "prince" of yours is nothing but an outcast. You should thank me for that.
Poppy: Bullshit!
Everyone gasped at her language. Branch was amused.
Branch: *thinks: What a woman.*
Poppy: I can't believe people like you guys think it's fine to harass those who are different from everyone else. Everybody's different in their own ways, so live with it. And, I don't care what any of you say about Branch. He's a nice guy, & you judge him just because he's gray. Look around, not everyone's the same color. You're gonna have to deal with it. And I am SO glad that I dumped you before the dance, knowing that you're one of those people who care about their looks and not their personalities! The pep rally's over. Everyone, back to class, NOW!
Everyone sighed sadly after Poppy's speech & head back to class. Creek was stopped by Poppy's father, Peppy, the principle of the school.
Peppy: Creek, I'd like to see you in my office.
Creek: *glup* Yes, sir.
Before Branch could leave, Poppy caught up to him.
Poppy: Branch, wait!
Branch: Yea....?
Poppy: I'm really sorry about all of that.
Branch: You didn't have to defend me, you know?
Poppy: Are you crazy?! If it wasn't for me, they would keep harassing you! And, I can't allow that to happen to my dear friend.
Branch & Poppy have been best friends ever since they were five. Ever since his parents died, her & Peppy were there for him. He was forced to live with his uncle & twin cousins. His father use to run a diner that everyone loved, but when he died, his uncle took over it. But no matter what, Poppy was still there for him.
Poppy: I think it's best if you head home for the rest of the day. I can't have them glare at you all day.
Peppy: Poppy!
Poppy: Coming, dad! See you tomorrow.
Poppy pecks his cheek & left. He has always had a crush on her ever since they first met. But, Poppy has been dating Creep- I mean Creek for two years. Before the Halloween dance, Poppy broke up with him cause she was in love with someone else. Since they couldn't talk in public, they talk by texting or online. He was glad to have a friend like her.
They really deserve each other, don't they? ^.~
