We sat down at the dinnertable as I poured us some wine, red of course as it is my favorite.
'I'm so glad you guys could come.' Betty said.
'We're happy to be here too. Thanks for the invite.' FP said, smiling at me.
'Yeah I'm sure you didn't have anywhere to be with those Serpents.' Hal commented quickly.
I glared at him, I didn't want him to pick a fight by saying something wrong.
'I'll go get the mean course in the kitchen.'
'Oh I'll help you mom.' Betty said politely.

'What was that all about?' Betty asked.
'Well honey you know your dad isn't too fond of the Serpents and their lifestyle.' I said as I took the food out of the oven.
'I know, but you were a Serpent. I don't get it. Why is he still so fed up with him?'
'I don't get it either, your dad has never really been best friends with FP.' I said although I totally knew the answer.
'Yeah guess we could've seen that coming somehow...'

We ate our dinner quietly and everyone seemed to love it.

'Want some more wine FP?' I asked as I was already pouring him a second glass.

'Hey, you're trying to get me drunk here?' He asked, making a joke.
I giggled.
That led to a furious look on Hal's face and honestly I was low key enjoying it. That was the first time I actually didn't pretend to like FP when my daughter and husband were around.
'So tell me, mom, got any funny stories from back in highschool?' Betty asked, only knowing we had been to the same school.
'Yes, well I've got one on FP.' He looked straight at me when he heard me say his name.
'So one day during our junior year we were having maths. Our classmates were always trying to get on the nerves so FP here he throws this piece of paper to the blackboard. Of course the teacher turns around. FP pretends like nothing had happened but eventually got kicked out of class. Yeah, you had to be there..' I said as I was still daydreaming of this moment.
'Hey Alice, don't journalists have to check their facts?' FP asked.
'Huh?'
'Well, I wasn't the one that had thrown it, Fred had!' He started laughing. 'And then the teacher of course kicked me out because just like you she suspected me.'
'Oh, I didn't know..' I said and suddenly felt a hint of guilt.
'Hey no hard feelings, it was quite funny and you couldn't have known.'
'I still can't believe Fred did this.. he was always the polite guy, no offense FP.' I smiled. Hal's face was now almost turning bright red. FP noticed this and tried to change the subject.
'So I've got a story too. It's from homecoming..'
I immediately got scared of what he'd tell.
'and about the band me and Fred used to have.' I let out a sigh.
'Oh the Fred heads, right?' Betty said and chuckled.
'Hey now, we were very popular at our highschool.' FP said sarcastically.
'So we had to play at the homecoming dance, everything went fine until we started our first song. Any guesses?'
'Oh I remember!' I laughed.
'Yup, me too.' Hal said, looking irritated and not amused with the situation.
'What happened dad?' Jughead asked.
'We played our first note and bam all the lights were out, the music had stopped playing and well.. the kids had stopped dancing. It was such a fail, it took the electricians an hour to fix it. By that time the punch bowls were empty. Luckily we had to play toward the end so we had enjoyed the beginning of the dance.' He laughed.
'Oh and I know what also happened at that dance..' Hal was giving me a strong glare, whilst debating whether he should tell this story or not.
'Oh now don't you dare.' I glared back.
'Well.. I remember there being a fight between two significant people. I think it was about how the guy's girlfriend was asked out by another guy and she didn't go with him to the dance. The boyfriend seemed pretty jealous.'
'Yeah well I think that was because she had a boyfriend. I believe I remember.' FP glared at Hal.
'Alright, who wants some more wine!' I went to the kitchen to open a second bottle. FP quickly followed me.
'What was that all about?' He asked.
'Oh god, I don't know what has gotten into Hal the last couple of months. He's been so annoying and just too much to handle.' I let out a sigh.
'I'm always here for you Siren.' He took an empty post-it and wrote his phonenumber down.
'I got a new number. Use it if you want to talk okay?' He smiled gently. 'Thank you FP. I will and I really appreciate it.' I hugged him. He touched my lower back as he pulled me closer. 'I wish we could stay like this forever.'
'Me too FP.' I loosened my grip, gave him a kiss on the cheek and quickly got the bottle as we walked back out.
'Thank god you helped me open this.' I said, looking at FP.
