Chapter 16: What are we?

After I had admitted to Betty that FP and I had been dating during our teenage years I decided to call FP. He has to know. She is probably already telling Jughead right now.
I dailed his number but no one answered. I tried again and still no one.
I got into my car and drove to the place I was sure that he would be.
I heard the familiar doorbell as I walked into Pop's and saw him standing behind the counter.
'Alice?'
'FP. We need to talk. It's urgent.'
'Are you alright?'
'Yes. No. Come with me.' He walked outside with me.
'No, not here Alice. People could see us. Follow me.' He took me to a safe spot behind the diner.
'So what's up?' He wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me closer.
'Betty knows about us.'
'What?! Are you serious?'
'Yeah well she knows about our teenage years. Not about this.'
He sighed. 'Oh thank god. She has probably already told Jughead?'
'I bet she has.'
'God Alice, this is so odd.'
'I know! Now we don't have to hide our past relationship but our present. Or... what are we?' I smirked.
'Oh Ali in my mind I've been calling this a relationship for weeks.' He smiled and soflty kissed me.
'Oh god I...'
'What?'
'Gotta go!' I quickly said, ran off, got in my car and drove back home. Was I really about to say those three beloved words? Damn it, I guess I was. But it's too early.
When I got home I noticed FP had sent me a text. 'Are you alright? X'
Didn't want to create any suspicion so I sent: 'Yes, I'm just fine :) X'
I helped Polly out with the twins a little bit as Betty came up to me.
'Mom, would you want to help me with something?'
'Yeah sure, what is it?'
'There's this baking contest at school that I'm obliged to enter and as you know I don't really bake that often.'
'Or at all do you mean?'
'Yeah sure make some fun of me mom.'
'I would love to help you out.'
'Really?'
'Yes of course, I have the freetime and the skills.' I giggled. 'When's this contest?'
'Well.. in two days.' I noticed her getting annoyed at her own comment.
'Oh that is soon..' I was now looking through my cookbooks to look at some recipes.
'I doesn't matter what you bake. We've had cake, cupcakes, scones, pie..'
'And is there a theme?' I asked, the nerdy baker I am. I was now sticking post-its on some pages of my books.
'No.. but maybe we can come up with a theme ourselves. That would be fun. Maybe we should just keep it simple and have it be Riverdale.'
'Just Riverdale?'
'Just Riverdale, plain and simple.'
'Hmm I have already got a few ideas. I'll help you on one condition.'
'And what might that be?'
'You have to help!'
'I uhm have a lot of homework and I uhm...'
'Can't come up with a decent lie can't you?' I laughed.
'Alright I'll help you. Are we doing this tonight and tomorrownight?'
'Tonight we'll figure out the recipes and tomorrow we'll bake them. While you're at school I will already work on it.'
'Okay thanks mom. You're the best.'
'No problem honey.'
Then my phone rang. It was FP, I had to answer this.
'Oh I have to get this, it's a work call.'
'That's alright.' She walked upstairs to her room.
'Yes FP?' I quickly answered.
'He knows. Jughead knows.'
'Oh.. Well we could've seen this coming right?'
'I know but now I feel obliged to tell him about us. Our current status.'
'I know. Me too. Betty and I have been getting along so well the last couple of weeks but I do not want to ruin this.'
'Is she home?'
'Yeah, Betty and Polly with the twins, but they're all in their rooms. Why?'
*ding dong* the doorbell rang.
'Oh just a second FP I have to get this.'
I opened the door and there he was, holding a rose.
'Forsythe..'
He leaned in, looked inside to see if no one spotted us and kissed me softly.
'Hey. I know what you wanted to say earlier and I get it. Everything's happening so fast but we've been here before Ali.'
I took his rose.
'Thank you.' I was still in awe of this romantic gesture. 'Yes we have been here before but we both know how it ended, right? I want to be careful.'
'And that I get Alice. We just can't keep hiding our feelings.'
'I know we can't. Eventually we'll have to tell them.'
'We do. But for now I'll leave you alone.' He looked a little down as he walked away from my doorstep.
'Wait FP!' I grabbed him by his Serpent jacket, turned him around so he was now facing the wall and kissed him passionately. 'You do know that I don't want to lose you?'
'Now I do.' He smiled and that's all I needed.

So that was it for this chapter! I have to be honest with you all, it isn't very easy to come up with fun ideas anymore. I think we have almost reached the end of this fanfiction. I will write a few more chapters and then we'll see.
