We were still standing outside of the bar as I took the last sip of my glass of water. I still wasn't sober though. 'You want to go back in?' FP suggested.

'Actually.. no, I would rather just.. talk.' I looked around, wrapped my arm around his waist and pushed him against the wall of the bar.

'Ouch well I like that.. but we should be careful here. People could see us.' He smiled.

'Show me your snake, FP.' I whispered into his ear.

'Oh god Alice, you aren't sober at all.' He chuckled.

'Does that matter?'

'No, but I'd rather not do anything that you would regret babe.' He kissed me on my forehead and hugged me. 'Come on, let's get you another glass of water. Maybe even a cup of coffee.'

'Yeah alright.' I smiled back. God I am so lucky to have him in my life, we haven't defined our relationship yet but this is really it. Betty and Polly both know about me and Hal, our divorce. FP knows about his son. And what happened with me? I'm sort of back together with my first love and I'm hanging out with the Serpents again.

Right before we walked in I had to admit something to FP. 'Forsythe?' I said as I grabbed his hand.

'Yeah?'

'Just so you know, I respect your decision of being with the Serpents. But I am not going to get as involved as I used to be again.'

'I totally accept that Alice. Certain things happened a couple of years ago and I don't want you to go trough that again. This time I am going to protect you even more and make sure nothing happens to you.' He put his hand on my shoulder.

We walked back in and took a seat in the booth across from Jughead and Betty. We caught up with some old friends, Hog Eye even joined us for a minute. It felt pretty good to be back. Old memories kept flashing back, both the good and the bad.

My youngest daughter had already ordered me another water and a coffee even though I told her she didn't have to. She responded that she was just looking out for me.
'Thanks for the coffee hun.' I said.
'You're welcome. You could use it after your dance earlier.' She said and I immediately looked at FP, his look was reassuring me that I hadn't just done the Serpent dance again. Thank god.
'Wait did we dance?' I had already forgotten.
'Yeah we kinda did a dance off.' Betty said and her and Jughead just laughed.
'Oh god..' I put my head in my hands which were resting on the table.
'It's alright Alice, I would've never let you do anything else, you know that.' FP gave me a reassuring look again.
'Thanks.' I shyly smiled.
The rest of the night we all caught up on each others lives and talked for most of the evening. As I had eaten a bag of chips and drank a few more waters I somewhat got sober again.

'So mom, I've always wanted to ask. Why did you leave the Serpents and became a Northsider?'

'Well, uhm..' FP looked at me with a sad look on his face because he knew why. I decided to tell her and Jughead the truth, at least part of it.

'As Jughead and FP know the Serpents aren't known for the good things they do. Actually most of the people here are great but in the end things just got complicated and stuff happened that I did not want to get involved in, so I left.'

'And it was that easy, with the initiation and all?' She looked confused.

'Hmm kind of.. I just built a completely new life on the other side of the town. My brain told me it was the better choice but I've always wanted to come back and visit my friends.'

'That's pretty heavy.' Jughead commented.

'Yeah well the pink blouses and other pastel clothes aren't the real me. It's not like I didn't or don't enjoy that part of me but.. they are another me you know.'

In that moment FP realized he was the only one around this table that knew the real Alice and Betty noticed she was just getting to know the realest version of her mother. Kind, open, emotional, vulnerable. The Alice that Betty knows isn't the exact opposite but doesn't laugh as often, isn't as emotional and talkative as this Alice.

After a bit Betty decided to go. Jughead drove her home. FP and Alice were now alone, still sitting in the same booth. 'This sure takes us back, doesn't it.' Alice noticed.

'It sure does Alice. It's nice.'

'You uhm, you wanna get out of here?' I asked.

'Are you sober? What happened tonight?' He was just making sure.

'Yeah I am. Betty and I had a dance off, we talked a lot, you and I had our moments.. and I would really like to continue them.' I stood up as I grabbed FP's hand, who was still sitting down.

'Okay, follow me.' He let go of my hand, trying not to be suspicious and gestured to follow him. He took me to the bar - didn't grab a bottle as we used to when we were younger - and we walked through this door to the back of the Whyte Wyrm. Now I remembered where he was taking me. We walked past the pantry that had tons of food and bottles of alcohol in it. He again, grabbed my hand because no one was around and led me to this tiny space under the stairs that led to a couple of rooms upstairs.

'Aaaah our secret make out spot!' I laughed.

'Yup, still here.' He leaned in to me and softly pressed his lips against mine.
