As I'm writing this it is 5 days until Christmas so I thought I'd talk about some of the things that tend to happen at/around Christmas over here.
FOOD
Obviously there is the Christmas dinner which is essentially a roast dinner but with more stuff of it like brussel sprouts and cranberry sauce, but there are some other stuff too.
Here are some of them:
Pigs in Blankets - It's basically tiny sausages wrapped in bacon. (People outside of Britain add puff pastry too though)
Mince Pies - Not actually mince as it meat, it's like raisins and stuff inside a tiny pie. (It's gross)
Christmas Pudding - It's make of egg and suet and has raisins and other dried fruits, is usually drench in alcohol and set on fire. (to make it taste 'better')
Terry's Chocolate Orange - Orange flavoured chocolate shaped like orange segments and look like a orange when together.
CHRISTMAS NUMBER ONE
In the UK there's a big deal with which song is Number 1 in the charts on the Christmas week, usually it's the winner of X Factor's song when they win but there have been others. One year a song from a kid's show (Bob the Builder) was number one and also Killing In The Name by Rage Against The Machine. You usually find out who is Christmas Number 1 on Top of the Pops which you watch on Christmas Day.
OTHER SHOWS ON CHRISTMAS
Not only do you watch Top of the Pops but there is also the Queen's Speech, now I don't personally watch it myself but basically the Queen talks about stuff. However, the other main one I watch is Doctor Who where they have a Christmas Special and this year is exciting cause we see the new Doctor for the first time. There are also Christmas specials of comedy shows that we have but they're usually on the week up to Christmas.
GOING TO THE PUB?
Pubs are actually open on Christmas Day and people go with their family and have a couple of drinks and maybe have a meal depending on the pub. I actually worked as a cleaner at a pub last year and let me tell you in is not fun cleaning on Christmas Day cause they have a party on Christmas Eve.
So these are the ones that I'll talk about today and I hope that you all have a good Christmas and if you don't celebrate it then I hope you enjoy the holidays regardless!
