Naomi POV:

"Thanks for forgetting me, Bennett," I mumble to myself as I hurriedly walk down the sidewalk. The cold weather and pounding snow had caused my face to become numb almost immediately after I stepped out of the library, and after almost a half hour of walking in such temperatures, all I wanted to do was curl up in front of a fire and wrap myself in a blanket. Oh, and killing Bennett is part of the plan too. After all, I wouldn't be so cold if he hadn't forgotten to pick me up. I had waited two hours, yes, two hours for him before finally deciding I had to just walk home.

I hugged my jacket(which didn't provide much warmth at all since I'd assumed I'd only be having to walk twenty feet to and from the car and I didn't want to be carrying around such a heavy coat with me) tighter to me and sped up my pace as I neared the base. The sun had already started to set, and the loss of light made just made it that much colder.

I blew out a sigh of relief as I reached the door and quickly typed in the key code to get in.

I almost ran right in before remembering the dart. I waited several seconds and let the dart pass by before running in, grateful for the warmth that embraced me. The boys had lit a fire inside and everything, and were all enjoying mugs of cocoa while watching Elf, making me want to dump their cocoa on top of all of them. But, like the well-brought up lady that I am, I decided to try to be mature about the matter. They were too engrossed in the movie to see me come in, and were only made aware of my presence when I rang out my hair, which had become soaked from the melted snow, over Bennett's head.

He immediately screamed and jumped up, whipping around to face me with a glare so hateful, I almost decided to run away and forget anything even happened. Almost. Bennetts glare immediately faded when he saw me, his expression now filled with both realization, guilt and regret.

"Naomi..." he said quietly, obviously at a loss for words. The other two were now also looking at me with concern, but I only looked at Bennett.

"I hope you guys had fun," I said, keeping my tone calm but my gaze hard. With that, I turned and made my way quickly to my room. What? I said I'd try to be mature. I never said I actually would be.

Half an hour later I still hadn't regained feeling in my hands. The numbness on my face had faded away and been replaced by a stinging sensation. I had locked myself away in my room, still too mad to talk to any of the boys.

I had been laying down on my bed, reading on of the books I'd checked out at the library when Bennett opened the door to my room and walked in. I don't acknowledge his presence as he makes his way over to me, setting something down on my nightstand and sitting his self down on the bed next to me.

"Naomi, I'm sorry," he said. I keep my gaze on the book, but don't actually read any of the words.

"I'm an idiot and I forgot and you have every right to be mad at me, but please at least talk to me." He's met with silence, and from the corner of my eye I can see his guilty expression. He looks so distraught and guilty that I almost decide to give the poor guy a break. After all, he has to feel really bad about something to actually show it. The dude's practically a robot. But I resist the urge to feel any sympathy for him because he's the reason I can't feel most of my body now, while at the same time it now feels like my face is on fire. In case you don't get just how cold it is, it was seven degrees and I only had on a light jacket. It's more than cold. Entire buildings are freezing. Eskimos have officially decided this place is too cold for them. The lakes have turned into glaciers. Polar bears are dying of hypothermia. I'm pretty sure the sun decided to move, and I'm just about ready to get off my butt and do the sa-"

"I made you food." Okay, maybe I'm being just a little bit harsh to the poor boy. I look over to see a steaming bowl of soup placed on my nightstand. Despite wanting to stay strong and keep ignoring him, I know I'd eventually have to give in anyways. Besides, knowing Bennett, he almost certainly made it himself, and you just don't turn down the man's cooking.

I let out a defeated sigh and toss my book to the side, earning a victorious smile from Bennett.

"Don't be so happy about this. I'm doing it for the soup, not for you," I say, but I can't help the slight smile that creeps up on my face.

"Of course, of course," he says, chuckling at my childish behavior. I say nothing as I shove a spoonful of soup in my mouth. It's only slightly too hot, and it tastes too good to wait for it to cool down. I continue to spoon the soup into my mouth as Bennett's expression changes from his small smile back to one of guilt.

"Naomi, I really am sorry. I just... God, I can't believe you had to walk all the way back here in that weather. Are you okay?" he asks. I nod as I swallow my soup.

"Yeah," I answer. "You made me food. In my world, that makes everything okay." He lets out a short laugh as I take another spoonful of soup. We're quite for several moments before he reaches out and feels my forehead.

"Jesus Christ, you're burning up like the Great Chicago Fire," he says.

"I really don't think it was all that great. It was pretty bad, actually," I said, trying to lighten the mood, but probably not helping at all. I'm proved right when Bennett's expression doesn't change.

"Shoot, I think you got a cold from the weather, Naomi," he said, his expression laced with concern.

"Actually, you don't get colds from cold temperatures. You get them from germs," I said. He stared at me like I was crazy for several moments before breaking out laughing. "What? What is it?" I asked. He calmed down from laughing after a few seconds and looked back at me.

"Only you, Naomi. Only you." Why are boys so confusing?

"What do you mean? Stop being so confusing," I whined. He released another small laugh and ruffled my hair.

"It's nothing," he assured as he stood up, taking my empty bowl from me. "You should get some sleep. Just shout if you need anything, Okay?" he asked.

I hesitate for a moment before replying. "Okay," I said. He gave me a small smile and turned to leave before stopping. I am about to ask him what's wrong when he turns around and kisses me on the top of my head. I'm left speechless as he turns around again and leaves, tossing me a small smile over his shoulder.

It's short but I really wanted to write it. Hope you like it :)
