First off, I would like to make one thing clear: I AM A FEMINIST. If you aren't a feminist, well... I don't know how to explain to you that you should genuinely care about other people. If you aren't a feminist or if you don't generally agree with many of their beliefs, then please don't read my works. I don't want you looking at my stuff or my page. If you don't believe that people should have access to even the most basic human necessities, if you think that your right to make owning or obtaining deadly weapon with little to no hassle is more important than our right to a day without fearing for our lives, if you believe that people should be excluded, hurt, or have their rights taken away just because they aren't straight or CIS, if you believe that male victims of rape and abuse aren't important, if you believe that you are entitled to somebody else's body, yet other people aren't entitled to clean water and health care, then I am going to need you to unfollow me, stop reading my writings, and please never talk to me.
Also, I had a friend tell me that in my other TGGBB book, "Worth It," I had spent too much time trying to make the OCs diverse instead of focusing on the story, and that it was unnecessary. He talks as if it takes so much effort to write anybody who isn't a straight white guy or skinny white girl. I hate to break it to you, buddy, but last time I checked, the real world isn't like that! The real world is diverse and full of people of all different shapes and sizes and sexualities and genders and all of them are beautiful and valid. And he had the nerve to say "I just imagine them as white anyways," as if that didn't sound completely freaking racist! No. If you read my book, you will imagine the OCs as they are. If they are black, Asian, Latina, Indian, LGBTQ, asexual, chubby, tall, short, skinny, etc., you will imagine them as that. If they have acne or small boobs or no abs or a large waist, you will imagine them as so. If they have a weave, are bald, or are a girl with short hair or a guy with long hair, you will imagine them as that, because that is who they are. They are MY characters in MY book and you don't get to change them to fit your own vision of what you think they should be, because that wouldn't be that same character anymore. Don't change my all of my characters into skinny white girls and white boys with perfect abs and muscles. I designed my characters to be themselves, so please remember if you read my book that they are diverse and all different, and I don't care if you're bothered by them not fitting your euro centric beauty standards, they aren't meant to. Don't whitewash my characters. Don't make them something they aren't. This isn't me being a feminist, this is me accepting the fact that people don't need to bend to your standards in order to be beautiful and valid.
