Day 18: one getting cold and the other lending them their coat
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The ground made soft grinding and crunching noises as I walked along the gravel path. I let out a breath of air, leaving a cloud where my hot breath met the cold air. I pulled my arms tighter around my self, willing for the cold to go away as a cold breeze swept through the night air. I shivered, trying to hide it as I didn't want to feel bad.
Though as much as I tried to hide it, Jack noticed. He frowned. "Here Alex," he said. He had already removed his coat by the time I could process his words and at least have a chance to protest.
"You don't have to," I said with a blush. He shook his head.
"I have my sweatshirt, and I want to."
I sighed, decided that gutter protest was completely and utterly useless. I gently took the coat from him before slipping it over me. Jack gave me a warm hug, and I thought I might explode from the tightness in my chest and the flurry of butterflies in my gut.
Jack pulled away, his hands rested on my shoulders. "That better?" Jack spoke gently, full of care and concern. I nodded, smiling at him.
"Thanks."
We continued to make our way down the path. We both knew exactly where we were going. Our spot, or rather, our tree.
After walking for about five more minutes or so, we reached our destination. The tree was immense, it's branches twisting and swirling up into the starless night sky. It was a beautiful sight, it's deep green leaves matching perfect to the deep blue of a midnight sky.
We grabbed the lowest branches of the tree, pulling ourselves up and into the tree. We sat, surrounded by the foliage, tiny holes of sky peeking through the leaves .
I shimmied myself into the "v" of two branches. I leaned sideways against the right branch of the shape.
I snuggled into the warm fleece coat Jack had given me. It was soft, warm, and cozy. And it smelled good. It smelt of Jack.
"Whatcha smiling about?" Jack asked, interrupting my thought. I blushed crimson.
"Umm nothing."
"You sure?"
"Come over here," Jack said, becoming be to the tangled floor of tree branches. I made me way over, laying down and snuggling up next to him. I snuggled up into his side. "Is it weird to think you smell good?" I asked. I figured he wouldn't think anything of it. We'd been friends since we were little, if he asked anything about it I wouldn't have to say it was because if I could smell him it meant I was near to him. I could just say after all these years he smelled like home, which wasn't particularly a lie.
He shook his head. "No. I like the way you smell too. You smell sweet and feminine, but it's nice."
I blushed. I didn't really smell that girly right? I mean, I used vanilla shampoo and lotion, but vanilla wasn't that girly, right? "I don't smell like a girl."
"Yeah, you do. But it smells nice, I like it. A lot." I smiled, snuggling more into his side, a rose colored blush dusting my cheeks.
The two of us fell into a comfortable silence, eventually slipping into a calm easy sleep. We woke up, our limbs more tangled than the branches we were laying on.
Jack woke his minutes later as early morning sunshine began to seep trough the holes in the leaves. "Hey lex," he murmured into my hair.
"Hey Jacky."
Jack sat up under me, causing me to be sitting in his lap, our faces just inches apart. I let out a shaky breath, a kind of nervous excitement running through my veins.
"Can I kiss you?" Jack asked, his hand having found its way to my face, his calloused thumb rubbing over my cheek bone. I nodded, not even being able to mange word at that point as I went into overdrive because holy shit.
We leaned in, our lips touching softly together. Jack's hand moved to thread into my hair, the other resting on my thigh. I his hair threading through my fingers and his lips dancing across mine, and honestly nothing could be better.
Jacks hand that wasn't on my neck slid up my shirt. I shivered at the feeling of his warm touch. He ran his hand up my chest.
I nipped at Jack's lower lip causing him to make a soft moaning noise that I thought people only really made in romance novels. He bit softly on my bottom lip, causing me to give out a heavy moan. I felt Jack smile against my lips.
We pulled apart, both gasping for breath. Jack trailed kisses down my neck. He sucked on the skin of my collar bone, making me let out a soft moan. Jack kissed back up my neck before kissing my lips again. The kiss only lasted a few seconds before be both pulled away, our foreheads resting against eachother, smiling wide.
Jack spoke first. "Alex, you are the most beautiful thing to exist."
I blushed, letting out a light laugh. "Yeah?"
"Yeah. And I wasn't kidding about the smell thing. And the sound of you moaning is the god damn hottest noise I have ever heard. And you're an amazing kisser and cuddler. You taste like those peppermint breath mints you're always eating. There four, You conquer all the senses, making you possibly the most amazing human alive. Other than Mark Hoppus, of course."
I blushed. "Thanks. Expect for that last part."
"Awe, don't worry Lex. I love you."
I blushed scarlet. My insides felt on fire again. I'd wanted to hear that for so long.
"I love you too," I said.
We had finally both admitted our feelings for eachother, and I had a feeling that this would last for a very long time. And to think, that really? It was all because I was cold and Jack let me borrow his coat.
