-Continuation of flashback- (Author's POV)

Liam was walking to the house where he had dropped Courtney Prior off the night before.

It was around one in the afternoon when he arrived at the Priors'.

He rang the door bell, and Courtney herself opened the door.

Liam was wearing a simple shirt-jeans-sneakers combination, one hand in the pocket of his jeans, the other holding a picnic basket, and was smiling at her.

"Hello, Courtney." he said.

Courtney, on the other hand, was wearing a t-shirt, shorts, and a pair of Vans.

"Hey, Liam. Wanna come in? Or do you wanna get going?" she asked, obviously shy.

"Either would be fine." he reassured.

"Mum! I'm going out!"

"Okay, dear. Be back before eight!"

"Let's go." Courtney said cheerfully.

And they went on their way. The park wasn't far from that street, anyway.

"Do you go to the park often?" he asked her. He was walking with his hand still in his pocket, and swinging the basket a bit using the other.

"Yes, actually. But I usually just take a book with me and sit on a bench or under a tree to read."

"That's cool. I mean, others would prefer hanging at a café or something. But then again, I see you're not like others." he said.

Courtney looked at him and found him looking right at her. She looked away, blushing.

"I don't really like staying in a café for too long. Especially crowded ones. I would just buy something then go home." she said.

"I should know." Liam smiled and laughed.

When they arrived at the park, they quickly found the perfect spot for a picnic.

Liam set the blanket and the basket, and though Courtney offered to help, he insisted he can do it by himself.

Courtney just stood there, watching that gentleman set up a picnic.

When Liam finished, they sat down and watched the park around them.

It wasn't really a crowded kind of park, it was more like a clear stretch of land with some trees and a few benches. There was a playground in one corner, and also a small pond on the far side. Around the whole area is a paved road where people usually go biking or jogging.

"I love watching scenes like this." Courtney suddenly said.

"Yeah? Hey, look, that's so cool!" Liam said, pointing at kids running while flying different kinds of kites.

"My dad and I flew a kite once when I was little." Courtney said.

"Really? Did you like it?"

"Yes. I miss him. He only comes home every now and then, when he isn't busy with his work. And only for short vacations."

"You know what, we should fly a kite some time this summer." he said as he took a bite of his sandwich.

"Alright. When you aren't busy, you can always come over." she said, and smiled. She got used to being around him quite easily. She isn't as shy now.

"Great!" he was grinning. "Wait, what if you're the one who's busy?"

"Well, I don't really have any plans this summer."

"Neither do I. Can I get your number? So I can text or call you before I come barging in?" he said, and chuckled.

"Oh, man! If you intend to barge in, just make sure you don't bring your car with you! We wouldn't wanna scratch it!" she was laughing as well.

"Alright, I won't bring my car. A bike, then. By the way, do you have one?"

"No. I never actually learned to ride one." Courtney said, looking at Liam then at her sandwich.

"Do you want to? I can teach you. We can bike here, if you want." Liam said excitedly.

"Well, I guess..."

"Great! We can rent. It's on me." he said, then finished his drink.

He put the things back in the basket. He let her help this time, but only because she insisted.

Courtney still wasn't sure of the idea, but Liam seemed excited about it, and she thought she'd give it a try.

They rented only one bike first and Courtney hopped on to it. She was still having a little problem with her balance.

"Put your feet on the ground and glide first for a bit, as if you were walking." Liam said, and she did.

"Do it again, then try to put your feet on the pedal."

She tried, but had to put a foot back on the ground for balance.

"Alright, I'm gonna be right here to help keep your balance."

He put one hand on top of hers, which is clutching the handle, and the other on her back for support.

"Try and pedal." he said.

He was also pushing her a little, and walking beside the bike. They were still in that position as they moved.

"Alright, you think this far enough?" he asked her.

"Far enough for what?" she asked back.

"Yeah, I think this is far enough. Keep doing whatever you're doing. I'm gonna let go now." he said, chuckling.

"What?! Hey, wait!" she said but he already let go.

"Don't worry, I'm right here!"

She was still wobbling every now and then, but she was moving forward. Liam was jogging beside her.

"Keep going!" he said

"Yeah!"

She was accelerating. She turned the corner, and kept going.

"I'm gonna get a bike." he said and jogged off.
