Kristel's POV
"I wonder what's up." I told Louis.
"You noticed it too, huh? I dunno. Liam's changed a lot since summer break." Louis said, looking a little down.
"Wanna talk to him before we go home?" I asked.
"We could try. He seemed quite... Unwelcoming. If that's the word." he answered.
I chuckled a little, in spite of myself, but he just sighed.
The bell rang and we ran to class.
We entered our classroom and sat next to each other. Liam wasn't there yet.
We were halfway through our class when he finally entered, and after being reprimanded for being late in the first class of the school year, he took his seat. Way on the other side of the room. Louis and I exchanged looks. Liam always used to sit with us.
After the class, Liam was the first to leave the room. And when we reached the hallway, he was nowhere to be found.
"Is he avoiding you guys?" I heard someone ask. I turned and saw my other bestfriend, Vanessa Wilson.
"I dunno..." Louis said, sighing again.
"Well, you could try to talk to him, you know?" she told him.
"Yeah, I know. Only, like you said, he's avoiding me." Louis said through gritted teeth.
"Actually, Louis, that was a rhetorical question."
Louis rolled his eyes, but smiled a little just the same.
Vanessa turned to me.
"So, Kristel, how are you? How was the class?"
"'How are you?' Seriously?!" Louis said, looking at her. "You were just on the phone this morning!"
He walked a little ahead of us. He sure wasn't in the mood...
"It was alright. Except, I can't stop thinking about Liam." I told Vanessa.
Louis suddenly spun around and looked at me, eyebrows raised.
I blushed a little.
"Oh, sorry. Rephrase: I'm a little worried about Liam. Why he's acting like that."
Vanessa laughed.
"C'mon we should go to our next class. We can talk to him later." Louis suddenly said.
When the three of us arrived, Liam was already seated. Many of his friends were around him, but he still looked like he wanted nothing else but to be alone.
After that class, he was gone before we knew it.
"I wonder if my best friend developed some superpowers, and is distancing himself from me because he cares too much." Louis said jokingly.
"Oh, haha. I don't remember him being that sweet to you." I said.
"Louis, when did you last talk to him anyway? Aside from this morning, I mean." Vanessa asked.
"About two weeks ago, I think? When we went biking. He didn't seem quite cheerful, even then. But he sure seemed a lot more okay than he is now." Louis told us.
The rest of the day passed for Louis and I without seeing Liam. Vanessa, on the other hand, attended a class with him, and said he still looked problematic.
After all our classes, we saw his car leaving.
