"You look gorgeous" Josh compliments as he leans against the doorframe in our bathroom. I lock eyes with him in the mirror and let out a long, deep breath.

"What if they let him go free?" I ask worriedly.

"Maya he stalked you and destroyed our property. We had to move because we were scared for our family's safety. He's going to be found guily."

"But he'll be free someday" I remind him.

"Yes he will but he'll never see us again. We have a restraining order and I'm sure it will be a stipulation of his release."

"I hope so" I mutter.

The doorbell rings and Josh pushes off the doorframe to stand up. "I'll get it. It's probably your mom" he says before disappearing out of the room. I take a deep breath, bracing myself against the counter. I just wanted everything to go perfectly today. I wanted Matt out of my life. I wanted to move on.

"Hey baby girl" my mom smiles as she appears. "I hear that you're a little nervous" she says with an understanding smile.

"Just a tad" I sigh, turning to face her. "I just want this to be over mama."

"It will be. No matter what happens today that man is out of your life. Today is the last time you'll ever see him."

"I hope so" I smile softly as Josh walks back into the room with Emma on his hip.

"Mommy you look pretty" Emma compliments me. "You're gonna win" she adds making me quirk an eyebrow at her, turning my gaze to Josh.

"Did you coach our daughter?" I laugh.

"What? No" he insists playfully making a smile pull at my lips as he puts her down. She walks towards me and I scoop her up.

"I love you baby girl."

"Love you too mama" she replies as hugs me close. I take a deep breath before letting her go and setting her on the ground.

"I guess we should go" I sigh, running my fingers through my long locks. Josh nods as he takes my hand.

"Let's go."

"Maya Hunter to the stand" the attorney calls. I take a deep breath as I stand up and make my way to the stand. I swear on the bible and take a seat. This was Matt's attorney so I knew this would be brutal.

"When did you meet my client?" the woman with a perfect brunette bun and a pressed pencil skirt asks.

"The first day of school. I'm an art teacher at Abigail Adams and he was the gym teacher."

"Would you say your interactions with my client were flirtatious?" she asks curiously.

"Not at first" I shake my head. "When we first met he asked about my ring and I made it clesr that I was engaged."

"But what about after that? When things started to head south at home. You started to lean on my client isn't that right?"

I nod. "I did. In my eyes it was never anything more than a friend leaning on a friend. I never meant for him to get the wrong idea. I never meant to lead him on."

"But you admit that you did indeed lead him on?"

I shrug. "I guess. I knew I should've cut off communication with him once I found out he had feelings for me but we worked together and he had become a friend to me. I didn't want to lose a friend. I figured he'd get over me."

"But he didn't?"

"No" I shake my head. "I admit I made some mistakes but that doesn't mean that what he did was right. I may have lead him on in the beginning but after I finally cut things off he began pursing me."
