Butterflies are aflutter in my stomach when I wake up the next morning. It seemed surreal; this couldn't actually be happening. I was marrying Joshua Matthews. My phone rings beside me on the nightstand and I reach over to grab it before it wakes Riley only to find Josh's name on the screen. I laugh, sneaking out of bed and heading out into the hallway. "You are not obeying the rules" I scold as I answer the phone.
"You said that I couldn't see you. There was never a rule in place that said I couldn't call you" he points out like the smart ass that my fiancé is.
"Alright fine" I concede. "What do you want? I'm gonna get in so much trouble if they catch me talking to you."
"Wow. You're so sweet to me."
I giggle, shaking my head in amusement. "You're an idiot. What's up babe?"
"Not a damn thing. I just miss you. I couldn't sleep last night."
"I'm sorry baby" I reply honestly. "I miss you too."
"Mhm but I'm sure you at least slept. How is your wife?" he asks playfully.
"She's lovely" I giggle. "But she's not you" I remind him. "Waking up next to you is much more fun."
"Hm, the things we could do."
"Alright enough of that" I laugh. "We have all night together."
"Hell yes we do" he replies. "I can't wait to see you."
"Not nearly as much as I can't wait" I argue.
"We'll have to agree to disagree" he chuckles.
"Maya Penelope Hunter" Riley exclaims. My eyes widen as I turn, plastering an innocent smile on my face as I face my best friend.
"Hey Riles."
"Who is that?" she demands, pointing to the phone I still had pressed to my ear.
"Busted" Josh laughs.
"I'll see you in a bit babe. Love you."
"Love you more" he replies before I take the phone from my ear and hand it to Riley.
"He called me" I exclaim defensively before she can get a word in.
"Yea I don't care" she shakes her head as she pockets her phone. "You know better. Get in that room. You have to get your hair and makeup done."
I roll my eyes, brushing past her and plopping down at her vanity. "Don't I get breakfast?"
"Do you think you can handle food? I almost threw up before my wedding" Riley chuckles.
"Yes well I'm pregnant so I'm afraid that if I don't eat I might pass out. Can I just have like some toast and some eggs or something?"
"Fine" she grumbles. "I'll be right back" she adds, brushing past me and leaving the room. I sigh, standing up and looking around the room.
It didn't make any sense why everyone was making so big a deal out of tonight. Today was inevitable since that first Christmas when Josh walked into my life.
"Boing" I exclaim, pointing at the tall, handsome boy that followed Amy and Alan into the house.
"That's my uncle, Maya" Riley explains with a slight chuckle.
"Sweet. I would be your aunt" I point out making her look at me appalled as she hops off the bench and throws her arms open to hug her uncle.
"Uncle Josh."
"Riley" he smiles, returning her hug.
"Uncle Josh" I exclaim, following by Riley's example and throwing myself at the boy.
