4. Ghost

"Bad news" Josh says as he walks into our bedroom the following afternoon while I'm lounging on the bed watching Shadowhunters.

"What?" I ask worriedly as I look up at him, muting the television to give him my full attention.

"We can't make plans next weekend" he smirks as he tosses me his phone.

FARKLE: Guess who's coming into town this weekend......you and Maya down to spend a weekend away from the kid?

"Oh my god" I exclaim making Josh laugh as I jump out of bed. Smackle and Farkle had moved away for college and they loved the town too much to leave so they ended up moving away. They came home every once and while and we were always more than happy to spend the weekend with them, escaping our responsibilities for a few days.

"You seem a little too excited" Josh teases making my roll my eyes playfully.

"This could be good for you" I remind him as I stroll over to him, wrapping my arms around his waist, "you're probably gonna get lucky with the amount of alcohol that's going to be running through my veins."

"Baby I don't need to get you drunk" he smirks as he leans down to kiss me at the exact moment our bedroom door flies open.

"Mommy my disc is skipping" she informs me as she stands in the doorway.

"Okay baby girl, I'm coming" I smile as I give Josh a quick kiss before following her out into the living room.

"What are we doing today?" Emma asks curiously as she sits on the couch, looking up at me.

"What would you like to do?" I ask as I sit next to her while the theme song for Doc McStuffins plays in the background.

"Can we go to the zoo?" she asks hopefully as Josh walks into the room while pulling on a shirt to match his jeans that he had put on after I left.

"Um" I reply as I look up at Josh who's already checking the weather on his phone.

"It's supposed to get up to fifty-six today and there's no chance of rain. I don't see why not" Josh shrugs making a smile pull at my lips as Emma jumps off the couch.

"Yay" she exclaims. "I get to see the polar bears" she adds happily as she runs off to her room.

"I'll go help her get ready" I laugh as I follow after her.

"Don't take too long gorgeous" Josh smiles as I disappear into Emma's room.

"Polar bears" Emma insists as we walk through the gates of the zoo, Josh and I keeping our daughter between us.

"Hold on kiddo" Josh laughs as he squeezes her hand. "Wanna get something to eat first?"

"No. I wanna see the polar bears" she whines making me share a look with Josh.

"Okay fine" I sigh as I look down at our daughter. "Polar bears and then food" I insist as we start walking around the zoo.

"What's your favorite animal mommy?" Emma asks me as she looks up at me.

"I don't even think I know what your favorite animal is" Josh admits making me laugh.

"I don't think I have one" I shrug. "I had a pet ferret when I was a kid that I loved but other than that I don't really know. Monkeys are cute" I reply nonchalantly.

"Do you like bananas?" Emma asks curiously.

"Actually I hate them" I admit with a laugh making Josh laugh along with me. "What about you babe? What's your favorite animal?"
