I don't sleep much. I slip out of bed before the alarm and head out to the kitchen to make a pot of coffee. Of course footsteps follow me. I think Emma snuck out of bed but the deep, raspy morning voice of Josh startles me. "You okay?" he yawns, rubbing his neck. I turn around to face him while the coffee brews behind me.
I grip the counter and gnaw my bottom lip as I avert my eyes to the ground. "I don't think I should come with today to get the stuff from our apartment" I admit causing him to furrow his eyebrows in confusion.
"What? Why? What happened?" he demands softly as he steps towards me. I take a deep breath as I pull my phone from the pocket of my sweat pants and hand it to him.
"I don't know if it's him for sure but I don't think I have another stalker" I explain, crossing my arms over my chest.
He reads the text and slams the phone to the counter. "We're going to Topanga with this shit. This is ending" he says defiantly.
"What if he doesn't go away" I say softly, my voice cracking in terror.
"Look at me" he whispers, lifting my chin so our eyes lock. "He's gonna go away. We aren't giving him a choice Maya" he says seriously.
"How did he get my number? I mean what was even the point if he can just work the system and get my new one?"
"Just block the number" he instructs as he nudges the phone to me. "Out of sight, out of mind. Your dad and I will go and get the stuff from the apartment."
I nod in agreement and a soft smile pulls at my lips. "Thank you" I whisper. His face softens before he pulls me into his embrace, holding me tight. "I love you."
"I love you too."

Ems stands beside me while we wave to my dad and Josh pulling out of the driveway in the large moving van. They'd be moving the majority of our things to storage but some of it was being brought back here, mostly Emma's stuff. I shut the door behind us and turn to my daughter happily. "What do you wanna do with mama today?" I ask excitedly. My mom had taken the day to go out for lunch with Topanga since I was staying home with Emma today so it was just me and my girl.
"Can you help me get better at matching?" she asks hopefully. "I wanna beat grandpa" she says making me chuckle.
"Most definitely" I nod happily. The doorbell rings abruptly catching my attention and I spin around to look at the front door in curiosity before turning back to my daughter. "Why don't you go get the game" I suggest. She nods and scurries off to retrieve the game from the closet while I head towards the door. I pull it open without a second thought and my breath hitches in my throat.
"You get my message?" Matt asks smugly. I immediately try to slam the door in his face but he catches it with his foot and pushes it back open. "What's wrong? Didn't you miss me?" he asks with a smirk.
"No" I shake my head. "I did not miss you. Matt you need to go."
"Why?" he questions. "I know he's not here. Let me guess. You told him about the text I sent you and then it was interpreted that I was going to be at the apartment today when in fact the plan was just to separate you" he smirks. "And look at that. It worked."
"Matt" I say sternly. "You need to go."
"Mommy" Emma exclaims as she walks back into the room. "Ready to play?"
"That Emma?" he asks causing my blood to run cold as I turn back to face my daughter.
"I'll be right back" I tell her before pushing him back onto the porch and closing the door behind us. "I'm not putting up with this" I say sternly. "I've had it with you. I'm sorry that I seemingly led you on but I'm not interested. Not in the slightest. Josh and I have worked out the kinks and we're happier than we've been in years. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings or something but you need to drop this."
