I woke up to the sound of the kettle screaming and my mother and father complimenting each other. After 17 years its the usual, the thin walls can't stop anything getting through no matter how cringy it is. My eyes widen and my hair knotty and tangled. As my cream walls stand tall with a few drawings in permanant marker when I was five. I begged my dad  to keep it as a memory, after hours of reasons why he agreed and put the paint away.My house isnt necesarily big but we have the essentials. Now that I think of it, I haven't really had a experience with big things. All I do is read, draw and talk to my friends. I've finished school but don't know what I'm going to do. I might go help my mum as a teaching assistant in law school or a mechanic with my dad. Personally, I dont want to do any I want to become an author but finding a publisher is hard. For the time being im working partime as a assistant game developer, i don't have days they just call me up but i get payed either way.

"Hiro, are you up yet?" my mum screams from the kitchen. I walk into the kitchen while my mum is pouring herself a herbel tea. She loves being heathly but I take from dad being a junky. "There you are!" she walks up to me pulling me in  for a hug. Im always gentle with my mother she's stick thin. "morning mother," I said tiredly sitting down on a stool and picked up my mail. "anything new?" My mother asks peering at the letter                                                                                           "same stuff as always," cheques and denial letters is what I'm used to and what appears every Saturday. I sigh and slouch down on the island staring at the big red letters saying denial I'm used to it there's no point crying about it I know the next time it will be the exact same.                  "How are my girls?" my dad storms in smiling and pulls us in, squeezes me and kisses my mum on the forehead its adorable and gives me hope for the future. "Another one huh?" my dad asks with a sympathetic look. I look down and nod. He squishes me and I feel safe and protected.

Suddenly, a knock at the  door interrupting our family moment. My mother walks up to the door with a confused look on her face "hello?" she says uncomfortably. It was a guy around 30 wearing dirty yellow, a clipboard in hand asking for the man of the house. I looked up to dad, he has a serious look on his face, stomped up to the door and mumbled. He closed the door and tells everyone to get changed while turning on the radio and TV. I do what he says I wouldn't dare argue back when my dad is in this state. Leggings, white tee and jumper for me my mum in a floral coral dress her  hair elegantly floating past her shoulders while my hair falls down lifelessly in a ponytail. Dad turns up the TV staring into the screen a man in a suit appeared saying "at 12:00 today the country will be annihilated by a nuclear bomb. All families visited by the vault men go to the nearest vault immediately!"                                                                                               "Its 11:45 we need to go NOW" my dad screams, we all run out the door slamming out on the way out following dad. Soon enough we are at security they allow us to go into but all the others crying and screaming at the guards. We step on a platform and slowly sink into a steel room with corridors everywhere. I cling on to dad and my legs shake every second we go down.

"You!" a man screams and points to my dad "number 3" he walks to the corridor that has the number 3 on it. A guard locks it behind him. "you two!" the man screams "number 7" he points at me and mum we tremble and walk to the corridor, stuck together like glue. A woman hands us a piece of leather clothing and asked us to put it on. I'm not going to be angsty like the teenager I am. I obey like a dog. The woman takes us to a room with things that look like techno fridges. Shows us to them one by one. Mine was at the back at the room, the darkest one. I got myself comfortable waved bye to my mother and froze.

My eyes shoot open and I breath heavily,  staring through the glass a man with a pistol opens my mothers chamber and shoots two bullets in her head. I stare helplessly. "one more, a seventeen year old," he smirks "open it." A buzzer goes off, he looks confused "I knew this would happen" he sighed "refreeze her, another year." He stared with me "sorry, orders are orders, have fun in there." His partner screams, a gunshot, the man turned around. Two guns fired, the man fell dead and a person came up to my window. A man. My dad. He told me he loved me and fell to the ground. I screamed and froze.....
