Anthony and Jayden don't talk for a while. She invited me to a little party at the studio the night her album went on presale and they released a song from the album and I celebrated with her. This time she stayed away from the drinks so we don't have a repeat of her birthday.

And although her life is continuing on just fine, I can see in her eyes she wanted to talk to Anthony. He was too stubborn to say something first and she is finally stood up for herself so there wasn't much happening between the two which makes it awkward for me.

Luckily we can get out of the apartment and into the sun for a little. The all star game was in Ohio which wasn't much different weather than Chicago. Sure, I would have loved to be on the beach somewhere but this was fine too.

Jayden was staying in the hotel room with me since she wasn't talking with Anthony. I didn't mind any, but he definitely wasn't happy.

This morning Jayden went to breakfast with Anthony's parents. Weird, I know, but she really was a part of his family. She saw them more than Anthony did for the few years before she moved to Chicago. She might be upset with Anthony but she was a lover at heart.

I meet up with my parents for breakfast and Jayden would join us later. We find a spot to sit down and order our food.

"So where's your girlfriend" my mom asks and I nearly spew my drink everywhere.

"What? I don't have a girlfriend" I insist.

"You're not with Jayden" she asks.

"No" I shake my head.

"Well how was I supposed to know that? She's all you ever talk about. Every time I call I ask how you're doing and you go off on some tangent about her. You guys were rooming together so I just figured you forgot to tell me" she shrugs.

"Thank god she's not here yet because I would have just died of embarrassment" I admit.

"Why aren't you guys together yet" she wonders.

"It's complicated" I defend.

"Well you obviously like her and she is very fond of you, what's stopping you" she wonders.

"Anthony" I say and she nods.

"I get it. He doesn't want you with her because he's jealous" she says.

"To put it in the simplest way... yes."

Eventually Jayden finds her way over to us and orders a drink. She just ate so she didn't want anything to eat. My mom and Dad ask her a bunch of questions about her music and her plans in life where she happily answers. I listen as she goes on and on about her journey, about what she's expecting from the album coming out in a little over a month.

After a while it was time to go. I had to get ready for the home run derby tonight and my parents were going to go to the art museum and I was going to do some exploring of my own.

"Hey, I'm going to the park. Did you want to come" I ask as Jayden sat upside down on the couch. She claims it helps her think better but I'm pretty sure she's just weird.

"I don't know" she sighs.

"I don't want you sitting in here all sad. We're in a new city and there are new places to explore" I insist.

"I know... I'm just sad" she claims.

"Let me fix it" I practically beg.

"Fine" she sighs over dramatically. "I guess I can come look at some flowers with you".
